Blum Tandem and Dovetails

I have a Leigh dovetail jig I've used for about a half dozen previous projects with good results when using side mounted slides. I've started using Blum Tandem slides and wanted to see if anyone uses them with dovetailed drawers and how you approach the notch in the rear. The first time I did the drawers as usual and then cut the notch with both a router and table saw. Most of the pins were blown off and while I could glue them back on it was not acceptable for sure.

New plan would be to have the back 2/4 inch more narrow for the mount plus the bottom, then lay the dovetails out so the lowest one on the other joints match the rear. Seems like it would work and I'll do some test runs of course.

How do you all approach this?

I assemble the drawers and then cut the notches for the tandem blum slides using a router table with spiral bit.

I just use a pull saw with multiple kerfs and open them up with a chisel.  Works great.

I use a dado stack.

Guess I'll try again with a spiral bit and see if it doesn't tear out less.

Use 1/2 blind dovetails, then a dado blade to notch after assembly should eliminate your problem.

I'll second that! 

I usually do dado sides/rabbet f&b, but occasionally do box joint or dovetail.
I've tried routing the notch on my router table(don't have a table saw), with my bandsaw and with the pull saw/chisel.
The router method is probably the fastest, but I get blowout unless I remember a sacrificial piece.
The bandsaw works well if I cut the backs before assembly... but I don't usually remember to do that and it's not a super fast method.
The pullsaw/chisel isn't super fast, but it is nice to switch up from doing everything with noisy power tools.  Sometimes I appreciate that few extra minutes of music without machine noise.

I ended up using HB dovetails and a dado on the table saw, worked well. On another set for the garage I used half laps and thru dominos and also worked well and looks okay.

I have a corner jig that has the size cut out needed for the slides and just use a flush pattern bit to rout out the slot.
