boom arm for CT26– new hose?

As far as I know the standard boom arm set do not include hose. You have to use your existing hose, unless a vendor is selling a custom set that include the hose of course. In such case I would contact that vendor and ask if the hose is the new 2018 hose.

My boom arm comes with a short hose from the vac to the rear for connecting to your existing hose for the vac you already have

The boom arm has the same 50 mm extension hose. It is not one of the new smooth ones.

I went to LeeValley during lunch and looked at their display. The hose you talking is the non anti-static grey hose right? about 3m long

Ahh, next time I will read the description more carefully about the 50mm hose and connecting to the vac’s existng hose.  Since seeing the new flexible hose, I HATE my original hose for most tasks.  Having it up on the boom arm would help tremendously though.  I may get the new hose too.  Thanks all!

[member=59909]fignewton[/member],  If you decide to get a new updated hose consider getting the 5M version instead.  I did as the 3.5M hose is a little short for my taste with the boom arm even with the 50mm extension piece installed and you would also then have the option of eliminating the 50mm extension piece altogether and have one clean new style hose although I kept my extension in place for more length.

I do not have my hoses nearby to verify, but isn’t the 50 mm hose approximately 1.5 m long? I seem to recall that it is very close to that length. If that is the case, then omitting the 50mm & the 27mm hoses in lieu of one 5m hose would equate to about the same length, would it not?

Yes, it is 1.5m in length. But there is a good reason to use the 1.5m length of D50 hose rather than using a 5m hose when using the Boom Arm. The Boom Arm is made to disassemble quickly where the the upper tube meets the lower tube, and this is the same location where the short length of D50 hose connects with your other hose. Once you pull the pin that joints the upper and lower tubes and disconnect the hoses at that location, you can simply lift the upper portion of the Boom Arm up and off with your user-supplied hose in place. I have often used this feature when moving my CT with Boom Arm out of my shop. I can just detach the top portion, carry it over my shoulder and wheel the CT off... So, I certainly would not replace the Boom Arm's D50 hose with a 5m hose.

I do indeed use the supplied D50 hose with an added 5M new style hose for a little more length, and still have the ability of convenient disassembly.  My suggestion was in response to [member=59909]fignewton[/member] using all caps to express his dislike for the ribbed hose.
