Hi all,

I just purchased the boom arm set for my CT26 and have been looking at the work center. I can see it being a really useful addition to my workshop as I find myself with a cluttered work bench, and using every flat surface in my workshop as a "mid project storage" area for my tools.

I have been researching the use of the WCR with the boom arm, but can't really find many pictures of it in use. I know they work together, but some users state they can't use all the hooks on the WCR? If possible, could someone please post a picture of your boom arm/WCR and whether you find it useful when working in conjunction with a boom arm? or does one get in the way of the other etc?

Also, what is the distance between the base of the WCR and the shelf? I have my vac sys stored on top of my CT26 (sys 3) and looking to either add my 6 drawer sortainer (sys 3) and maybe a sys 1 or 2 on top of that. Will this fit?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Andrew

I have a CT 26 and used to have my boom attached to it.

It works good, plenty of space to put a sustainer or 2.

I bought the stool to put the WC on simply because emptying/changing bags on the CT with the WC on it became a pain.

If you decide to use the BM on with the WC on the CT check and see if the cyclone will fit. It will save you some frustration of changing/emptying the bags.

Hmm I just might try that didnt think of it before...

I have the boom arm on my CT36 and added the workcenter. I have a sys 3 on top as well.  It was tight to get everything to fit, but I'm enjoying it.  I can see that changing the vac bag would be a huge PITA.  I actually started using my shop vac to periodically clean out and prolong the life of the disposable CT bag.  Since I'm not moving the CT around, I didn't keep the extended feet of the boom arm attached as they take up too much floor space.  Another drawback is that the CT will no longer fit under the MFT.

Attached is a picture from when I originally set it up.  If you need measurements let me know and I can get them tonight.

Thanks for the replies and photo. I can see changing the bags to be a PITA, but I can live with that I think.

It looks to be a Sys 4 on top of your work center, and I think that’ll be all you could really fit without compromising the storage on the upper section. Does the boom arm get in the way?

Cheers

I have a CT26, Boom Arm, Workcenter, and CT-VA cyclone all working together.  Changing the bags is a PITA, but it is not very frequent that I need to do so with the cyclone in use and I have also found that the PITA factor diminishes each time I change bags and it gets more familiar.  One thing I would point out about using the cyclone is that it gets in the way of some of the tool hangers and rotating tray that is part of the WCR-1000.  I think if you implemented these upgrades simultaneously it might not be such a drawback but if you added the items gradually like I did you start to miss some of what you used to enjoy.  For example, I miss the full functionality of the rotating tray.  It fits and is sill in use, but it is not as functional as before I added the cyclone when it became available.

As per the OP's question, the Boom Arm and Workcenter work great together and I did not have any obstructions of individual components until I added the cyclone.

Ended up buying a used WCR 1000 for a very good price. I couldn’t justify the new cost but jumped at this used one. Really happy so far, still trying to work out how to best set it up. I couldn’t fit my vac sys pump systainer on the vac as I can’t get clear access for the hose.

I’d love to see pics of anyone’s workcenter and how they set theirs up. One thing I can’t do is attach the hook for the boom arm on the back. The WCR gets in the way unless I lower which I don’t want to do. I guess something has to give!
