Boom Arm

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the boom arm, in particular the nylon swivel that attaches the swivel arm to the lower tube. This piece fits into both tubes with the bolt passing through the boreholes. I noticed the nylon piece has cracked and the boom arm is tilting more than usual. I called Festool and of course they are shipping a replacement part, no charge. I was curious, because I have the D36 hose hooked up to the arm, not the D27 hose. The boom is less than 6 months old and the Festool rep suggested I go back to the smaller hose. Anyone have any similar issues with this?

Skip,

My Boom Arm is also sagging - about 2-3" - although I did not notice if the nylon was cracked. I have the 27mm hose on my arm.

I figured it was normal, and it has not affected the function.

Yes guys! Festool will send you a new aluminum swivel. Since I replaced mine no trouble at all!

Same for me.
I developed quite a sag and went to local toy store and they gave me the aluminum replacement.
No problems since

Ditto.  My original plastic swivel sagged rather quickly, with the 27mm AS hose on it.  "Uncle Bob" sent me an aluminum replacement.  Since its installation and substitution of a heavier 36mm AS hose, and >6 months, no sagging at all.  I lubed the aluminum part with lithium grease upon installation.  I also saved the plastic part.  I'm thinking of trying to install a metal tube within the plastic part which I think should cure the sagging problem.

If you had the issue you would notice it in about a sceond,  it is NOT a subtle thing at all, my 6 year old asked me why it was bent that way when she looked at the other boom arm I have that came with the aluminum piece.

You must not have the problem Bill.
