There is so much rationalization going on here, I'm even surprised. I mentioned recently I was hoping to buy some Festool to help with being depressed about my Dad dying. His memorial service is on monday. A client sent a check, so .... off to the local dealer I went.
In addition, my Bosch 14.4 died a couple days ago, my 18V Ryobi hammer drill is at my brothers, my C12 is in the trunk of the car; which is in the shop. I have to have a cordless for tomorrow morning.
I've wanted a T15 since they came out. The $600 for a cordless has stopped me up until now. I almost didn't get one though, seriously. I stopped by HD on the way just to comparison shop. I have to do that, even if I know that I am already buying item X. The Makita semi display truck was in the parking lot. I have to say the drills were actually really nice. I have never been a big Makita fan. The price, discount package deals and 3rd free battery were almost to good to pass up. Made in China and the fact that I have gotten used to the multiple chucks pushed me to the T15.
I love my Festools and have happily spent the money on numerous. On a few of the items though pricing is a real killer. (T15/Kapex/some acc)
I asked the dealer if they had any promo sys left but no luck. Had'em put my name on one of the green sanding block mini-sys for 10/1
I'll be beating the crap out of the T15 tomorrow morning. Yes, Shane I bought one even after all the complaining. ;D

>:( Grrrr,  I want one too. I'm all Festool-green with envy now. Never gonna get one tough, I'm a poor sod.  ::)

But nice for you you finally got one too.  :D

Glad to hear you got the drill you want.  Sorry for the loss of your Dad.

I have a Makita 18v Li drill that I bought a couple months before I discovered Festool.  It is light weight but the chuck has always been a disappointment for me as it slips way to much.  I paid about $200 for the whole deal at HD IIRC.  I think I will sell it and get a Festool like yours....  I think the difference in price is not that much its just that you sort of have to buy the Festool with all the chucks and stuff at once.  I think the Systainer is more useful than the plastic case that comes with the Makita too.  Maybe I will go down and caress the T15 +3 at the Woodcraft next week....

Best,
Todd

Once you caress it, you know what's next, say good-bye to $575.  That's exactly why I've avoided local dealers lately.  I'm sure once we get wind of the price increases for next year, I'll take the plunge.

Sorry about your dad.  I lost mine a long time ago, way too many cigarettes.

I recently purchased my eighth festool, the C12.  I got it cheap and it included all the accessories.  I am really happy with it so I am limiting what I read about the T15.  I don't want to go through buyer's remorse.

Use it in good health.

Jim

By the way this is my first post on this site.  I'm usually on knots.

hi hotbikr and welcome to the forum. dont worry about buyers remorse, the c12 is a great piece of kit and i am sure you will get years of use out of it. if the remorse is still there in 6 months, do what everybody else does.....sell it on ebay. theres very good resale with festool these days.
regards, justin.

Sorry to hear about your dad.  I lost mine over 20 years ago and still think of him often.

I had just bought the makita 18v LI combo about 3 months prior to going into my local woodcraft.  I always swing by the festool display and they T15 was there and the sales guy came by and said "have you played with one of these yet".  Needless to say I did and the guy really new all the features and we went through them.  I thought to myself there is no way you can justify this.  That electronic clutch and the eccentric chuck sold me.  Oh, lets don't mention the free systainer (yea I know lame but still an escuse).  Can't pass that up!  All I can say is I'll be shocked if you don't love that drill. It was my first festool drill and I love it.  Expensive yes, but that will pass from your mind after a while.  The makita got moved up to the junk drawer for the wife to use.  I'll still use the impact driver from the kit but Festool is top dawg!
