This system from ESSVE is pretty cool. Not sure if it's available outside Sweden, though.

That is  a nice case. Individual modular boxes in a case but they also have individual lids. which  can be on or off while inside the case.

Seth

I've sent them an email to hear if there are any current international resellers or plans for this in the future.

They state in a press release that they sold more than 40.000 boxes within the first 6 months of product release. I'd call that a pretty good start...!  [smile]

This year I have been using some Keter boxes sold at the Home Despot with some success.  They have removable boxes inside for different fasteners, similar to the Dewalt and Stanley boxes.  What I really like about them is that they are designed so that the boxes inside stay upright when transporting with the handle, preventing screws from migrating to the wrong box.

I use one for my cabinet installation fasteners and another Is split between general screw assortments on bottom and brads/micro pins up top.  They also make a "deep" version that I use for drills.

It makes a nice stack in my rig; I usually roll them on top of my systainers.
Keter also makes slightly smaller versions that you can buy at Sears or OSH or other outlets, I'm sure.

+1 for these.  I have one for finish screws, another for drywall/decking screws, and another with all my kreg stuff in it.

They do work quite nice, and offer plenty of space.  Just be careful as they WILL get heavy.

Daniel

+2 for these.  I have sized one of the columns in my Chaos wall to fit these boxes because I use them for storage of all kinds of small parts, plus a Kreg Pocket Hole Master Kit in the same format of box.

That Racktainer set up looks perfect!  Are those still available?

I use a few cheapy plano boxes similar to the Racktainer and have to say its been great other than not being compatible with sustainers and the occasional mess if the box gets moved too much.  Its time to up grade!

A bonus over the Plano cases is that the individual compartments in the Raaco case are removable.

Currently the Racktainer is not available in the USA, but hopefully soon from Woodcraft or maybe Lee Valley will get some more in stock.

Seth

I will keep my eyes open for a distributer during the next year.  The Racktainer would solve a lot of my problems with small parts.

Does the Racktainer come with the boxes and rack?

Just an oldtimers way to keep order.    MARK

that is one of my ideas for chaos.
i would hate that.
all the boxs the same and no way of knowing whats in each without looking inside or at the explination board.
i would glue a fixing etc to teh front of it so i would always know whats in there.
i know all the boxs would end up mixed up  and i would have to read every number untill i found the one i want.

but if it works for you great. you are lucky
i like that every thing is well stored thow.

For those who use tb-1 toolboxes. I came up with a nice solution for screw and fastener storage. Plastic freezing boxes with lids. The brand Orthex also fits nicely in the tanos/protool/festool tb-1 foot print. 1L box fits perfect height wise. Clear plastic would have been ideal, but sharpies work well also.

Everyone in your family drink coffee?
If push comes to shove, you can always sell collector coffee cans [big grin]

Yes, it is the size of a Sys- IV with four cases. Two cases with 15 inserts each and two with 17 inserts each. Being modular you can rearrange  however you want. A variety of sizes.

I have to say that coffee can and wall index so bought memories of my fathers woodworking shop. If I didn't know better I would bet it was his setup. He had over 200 cans on the wall an index system set up so close to this.
I want to say thank you for this, it bought a big smile on my face

Lee Valley has the Tanos version (same as the festool one, just different colors) on their site here.  When you add them to your cart, it says they're expecting them mid-Feb.  I put an order in for two over the weekend so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for that link.  I did a word search on the Lee Valley site but its listed as "Rack Systainer."

I nice way of recycling your old empty CD-R cakeboxes is to screw them upside down (through the bottom) to the underside of a shelf or a table and then with a twist you can pull the 'lid' off with the screws, etc.

[attachthumb=#]

They are see through and this way you get 'free' space under the bottom shelf - just remember to cut out the spindle before use [wink]

I use the CarryLite boxes of Raaco (type 55 and 80).
I placed a few of them in the drawers under my workbench so when I go to an outside job I can easily take them out.
The inserts come in 2 different sizes of 55 mm (10 sizes) and 80 mm (6 sizes) height.
The lid and the bottom have a grid which secures the position of the inserts. Nothing can move that way even if a few inserts are taken out.
I use colour-coded stickers on the inserts for different screwheads and materials (Pozi, Torx, flathead, boldhead, SS).
I have mainly 4 boxes for the different screw diameters (Ø3+3½, Ø4, Ø4½, Ø5+6 mm).
Raaco is a Danish company and probably NAINA (Raaco).

Yeah, racktainer is not the official name. Rack Systainer, sorry about that.  When I searched for Systainer it didn't come up on Lee Valley. Maybe because it is out of stock?

Raaco is NAINA but if you contact a foriegn dealer or make a connection with someone etc. You can get additional inserts.

Nice Mark!
Like Sal, this brought back memories of my grandfather who organized his various hardware in clear glass jars with the lids screwed to a shallow shelf. I think he had as many screws and odds and ends laying around his shop as he had in the jars.
That's a lot of coffee  [big grin]
