So today i went to use my TS hooked up to my maybe 3-4 week old CT 36 and i puled the trigger on the saw and nothing. So then i tried to put the vac on manual and nothing. So then i checked the extension cord i had it plugged into had not wiggled loose on either end. Both ends where perfect. So what is it , now i. Getting mad as i got shit i have to get done asap and i really don't wanna be swapping out my midid on and off my Kapex. I check that the outlet has juice going to it. All is good on that front. Just as I'm about to give up i go back se the vac to manual and check the connection on the vacuum end into the extension cord. I bump it a certain way almost by mistake and it fires up. I then try to replicate the problem and it seems to be a problem on the CT end of things with the cord and not at the vac but at the end that plugs into the wall. I then decide to swap out the extension cord and rule that out. I swap extension cords and still the problem persists. I eventually propped the cord just so and was able to get my cuts made.

What would you all do. I really don't like a $700 month old tool giving me problems. On the other hand i really don't like the idea of being without my CT all week when i need it for work. Not to mention the holiday will probably screw up service turn around times..

First, try plugging it directly into an outlet. If it still does what you described, it would seem to be a problem with the plug end and would need to be replaced, but perhaps Festool service could send you just the cord? I don't know if that's an option, but you could ask...

So the male end on the CT power cord that plugs into an outlet is where the problem seems to be? In any case cal Festool service during business hours on Monday.

Thats the plan...

I was less than pleased with my last interaction with Festool service so i am kinda loathing the whole thing at the moment.

I know in the end it will all work out just fine. It really is a little thing but it is big headache and the third big headache i have run into in the very short time i have been using Festools.

If I understood the problem correctly, sounds like you might try spreading the prongs on the plug a little.

Also, I thought CT vacs were not supposed to be used with extension cords, if at all possible?  That's why they come with such a long cord.

Good tip.

Plugging it directly into the outlet was not meant as a possible solution to your problem.  I mentioned not using an extension cord when possible because I thought that's what Festool recommends.  Maybe not.

However, spreading the prongs on the plug may help.  Did you try that?

No i did not.

The only times i have done that it resulted long term i a cord having a problem due to the prongs being loosened.

Ill try it though gently!

The suggestion to plug it directly into the outlet was mine, and was intended as a diagnostic step, not a solution.

The fact that it still acts the same way when plugged directly into the receptacle removes the extension cord from the equation, but unfortunately points to a bad cord on the DE.

As suggested, please call Festool service on Monday to see what they can do to help you.
