I was so excited to find out my local woodcraft had a DF 500 in stock so I snagged it up. Found out later this evening that the plunge stop thumb adjustment was snapped off. No idea how this happened, the contents of the systainer were kinda jumbled around so maybe the domino got jarred really hard in transit?

Now I have to see if the might have another one to exchange it or I try and get it repaired. Or I try and use JB weld on it .. that seems crazy for a brand new expensive tool though. Has anyone seen this problem before?

-Update: Well I went down to Woodcraft and they were very sympathetic and made the situation right by replacing the unit with one they had on display.

Kudos Woodcraft! Now I just have to learn to use it.  [big grin]

Never seen it. Been using DF500 for about 5 years, used or seen about 5 different ones.

I’d send it back to Festool for repair. That’s an expensive tool to be fixing right out of the box.

Easy answer is to return to your dealer for another Unit.  Don't try to repair yourself.

Thanks Birdhunter, I had watched a few of New Brit's videos but hadn't came across Half-Inch Shy yet, he has some great stuff!
