are brushless compact routers quieter than brushed?

Sorta in the market for a compact router and seems like for now brushless are only available cordless and without a battery, lol. Kinda worried they might be top heavy because I haven't used cordless tools much. But more interested in noise levels.

Thnx

I would expect that the noise level is driven by the router's size/power. I have DRT50ZX4 by Makita and I would say that the noise level is very reasonable. On the other hand, I also have Bosch 1617 which is extremely loud. The Bosch is much more powerful than Makita and I would expect that the noise level is proportional to that and not necessary to the type of motor used.

Brushless tools are generally more quiet than their older counterparts. But, the faster a tools spins, the less you're going to gain with the sound level. You will notice the difference with a drill that spins at 1500 RPM, but you will not realy notice anything with a router at 20.000 RPM because the other parts of the tool will make so much noise.

I haven’t noticed and significant difference between a brushless Dewalt and brushed Makita trim routers.

I have two of the brushless 20v dewalts. They are awesome, do not sound any different than the brushed one in my cnc. Power is fantastic. being cord free is even better.  balance is fine, no issues with being top heavy, except maybe with one of the 9ah batteries it may be possible.

I have a couple of 18v brushless Makita’s. They’re not really top heavy, especially if used with a plunge base and extraction.
Noise levels are ok for me but, my hearing isn’t great. If you’re in a confined space, the noise will obviously be more noticeable.
Nice little power tool though.
