Quick question:

Is there a buffing pad (stick fix) that I could attach to the ETS 125? I thought I ask before I go and buy a rotex....

Thanks!

You could fit the pads for the RO 125 on the ETS. But it won't do you much good. Random orbit is not the motion you want to have when buffing, you want pure rotary motion. Random orbit is too weak for that. Sorry, but I just don't think the ETS 125 is suited for buffing.

I am sure you can stick one of the buffing pads on, but, due to the small movements of the ETS, I don't think too much buffing will get done. The buffing pads are almost 1/4 inch thick and the wool (I believe it is wool) at the surface will not be moving so much.

Eco,

You might try one of those SurBuf pads.  I have used them with my ETS 125 with some success.  Much more reasonable in price than anything Festool offers.  I think they run about 11 US$ for two.  You can also use them to apply finishes.  I know my local Woodcraft store carries them.  They are also available from Woodcraft and other sources on line.

I'm just wondering but how can you get a good polished look using something like that not using rotary motion.

David,

I can't explain the mechanics of it, but I can tell you that it does work.

Thanks for your answers!

I went out and bought a bosch 5" sheepskin pad today and gave it a try with the ETS. You are right, it really doesn't do much...

I guess I have to take the plunge and get myself a Rotex....
