I have a replacement top and would like to build an MFT table using the 800 kit (which provides the 800 mm guide rail, the front and back hinges, and a fence).

I see some other members have already done so. Is doing so just a matter of building the base, attaching some tracks to the apron, and attaching the Festool parts to this rail?

Depending on which mft top you have has an impact on the 800 kit - Meaning, the rail with that kit is fairly short and will work with an 800 replacement top but you will find it to be too short if you are using a MFT3 top and possibly a 1080 top.

I built a franken Mft with another frame I used from a different track saw company. In doing so, I had to modify the front and back rail support units to adapt to the type of rails that I had. I have read on here some folks adapting 8020 aluminum to construct an mft. If you don't mind modifying things, you can use lots of different products to mimic an mft, but If I didn't already own the aluminum frame I would have just purchased a new MFT3.... I still saved money this way but the savings will disappear quickly if you don't already have a frame or can construct one cheaply with material you already own.

Thanks. You saved me a lot of time and headaches.
