Kreg,
That is really fine work.
I, earlier the morning, went to your
www.builtinking.com website for the first time. You have done some really fine work and imagination. In your galleys, I noted several projects that were very much alike, but the detailing made for very noticeable differences. Very noticeable, that is, after closer inspection. For one of your builtins, you mentioned that you like to add the extra little details and mentioned some. As I looked, I noticed you even put your own electric outlet plate to match the woodwork with the same wood used thru out.
When i was in mason biz, I did a lot of run of the mill type fireplaces and terraces. I was often told by customer that they wanted something very unusual. "...something no body has seen before..." I would make some suggestions and they would ask, "Can you show us something like that that you have done?" "Well, no. I understood you want something different."
After several suggestions, and no referrals to other work just like it, we would finally be down to the plain old common brick of only an 8" or 12" surrounding the opening with a "Sears Roebuck" type mantel. So much for the unusual. Had you been around to supply the wood work, I would not have felt so bad as your work is the unusual.
When finally finding a client who really did want the unusual, the job and the people proved to be a lot of fun. I think you have a lot of fun with your work.
