Buying a Kapex

I just purchased a Kapex and the manufacture date is 1/11.    That means my new saw is two and a half years old.    Should I return it for a 2013 model ??
Has there been any improvements since 2011 ??
I'm not sure I should be paying full price for a two and a half year old model.
What are your opinions ??

Unlike cars, Festool does not change its products every year to make you buy new ones. So there is probably no difference at all between a Kapex from 2011 and one from 2013.

So my opinion is: who cares about the manufacturing date, if the saw was stored in a dry place, was never used before, and warranty starts with the date of purchase?

It's like people buying milk with the highest possible "best before"-date even when they plan to consume it within a day...

But if you are not happy with your purchase, just return it. I personally don't see why the dealer should grant you a discount.

Best,
Julian

I don't know if this as fact, but I'm pretty sure they have updated some small details, but I am certain that any saws that were waiting to be sold would have gotten items replaced before sold. Things i am talking about are items like the dust shroud or knobs or the LEDs for the laser.

Whatever happened to the school of thought that they made things better back in the old days and now companies cut corners for bigger profits.  Mind you 2 years ago ain't going back too far.  [big grin]

Seriously, I doubt there is any issue getting one that is made 2 - 3 years ago or yesterday with this particular product.  Just as long as it doesn't say "made in China", you should be fine.  [scared]
