C18 available and on UK Festool website

I do built ins, kitchens etc, not a lot of heavy work but have makita 18v pretty much full kit for that.
I just don't want to miss out on free batt.

Me too :) I have got a pdc 18 and the voucher has been sitting there looking at me for a while now. I was going to get the bhc sds but then the t18 looks like it might go well with my pdc. Then again the carvex might come in handy :)

I think the CXS gives people a false impression of the c handle drills. The CXS feels right in your hand but only because it is so small and light, I find the bigger c drills unbalanced.

That was my experience. When I use the CXS, I rest my pointer finger along the body and activate the trigger with my middle finger. I expected the C15 to be the same but when I tried it out, it felt more like an off-balance T/regular body drill that I had to use my middle finger to activate.

For those that like the C body (other than the CXS), how do you hold it?

I point with my index finger, hold the C15 on the lug above the trigger with my middle finger, and pull the trigger with my ring finger.  Suits me well.

Had a play with the T18, going to get the set version and I'm thinking one of the C15/T15 naked tool to get another battery. Thinking is 18 for drilling pilots etc and 15 for screwing? I like the idea of having all the chucks, used the right angle on the cxs a lot and like it.

Bad idea - you should standardise on 1 voltage, so you can use any battery on any drill. The difference in size/weight between the 15v and 18v drills is negligible, so there's no advantage to having 2 voltages.

Since you already have the CXS, I'd suggest using that for your light screwdriving; get the T18 set for your drilling/heavy driving, and then get a BHC basic with the free 18v battery for any masonry drilling, or maybe an 18v Carvex instead?

Good shout. Cheers
Is the BHC good effort to replace my sds? (18v makita) it would be nice to carry in just one type, would the BHC be good enough for kitchen installs and say battens to the wall etc.

I'm a dumbass! Sorry didn't know anything about BHC before posting, now know it's an SDS.
Thanks for the advice.

Think I might go for the bhc and sell my Makita 18v ads.

Decisions ,decisions lol

Interestingly, the specs of the new C18 are weaker than the T18.

T18 :
Drilling diameter, wood/steel 45/16 mm
Torque adjustment 0,5-8/0,5-6 Nm
Max. torque, wood/steel 35/50 Nm
Weight with Li Ion 1,7 kg

C18 :
Drilling diameter, wood/steel 40/16 mm
Torque adjustment 0,8-8/0,8-6 Nm
Max. torque, wood/steel 27/45 Nm
Chuck range 1,5-13 mm
Weight with Li Ion 1,7 kg

The C18 actually seem to be a moderate bump in terms of torque compared to a C15. The runtime will be improved though. Still very happy with my T18.

Hi
I have emailed a colleague to clarify the diffrences and why etc.

Hi
The correct specs are 27/45Nm - so the spec on the U.K website is correct. The reason for the diffrence between the T and C is that the motor in the C18 is slightly shorter.

My personal prefrence is the C shape with my index finger along the side - same as a hand saw as it gives more directional control [smile]

Which finger do you use to activate the trigger?

BHC T18 set. Getting ordered in the morning. Thanks for pointing out the obvious JRB.

You're welcome!

Just one thing on the BHC vs the Makita - the BHC does NOT have a rotary stop, so is useless for removing tiles. Just a thought since you mentioned kitchen fitting. Don't know if you use your Makita for that...

I have complained to Festool (and Phil!) about this before. In my humble opinion, it's a big deal breaker, and the only reason I don't have one already.

Hi JRB
Past 3003 posts!!
Point taken on the rotary stop - but it is a light weight machine designed for drilling a lot of holes either vertically or horizontally. If a rotary stop was added then the weight also increases. Machine for application etc.
