I made this coffee table for my daughter's new apartment.  The top is from a slab of California Walnut, legs from domestic walnut.

Used TS75 and Kapex for the cutting, and Domino XL for the joints in the legs.  Some amount of trial an error getting the angles right in the leg joints and bottoms.

Thanks!  My pictures don't do justice to the Walnut in the top.

I used Liberon Finishing Oil.    Got it at my local Woodcraft.

Thanks very much.  I delivered it to her (very good service on my part), she is very happy with it.

I assume "California walnut" is from a walnut tree officially recognized as being grown in the state of California.  And "domestic walnut" is from trees grown in any of the other 49 US states.  What unique characteristics does California walnut have that domestic walnut does not have?  There are a few unique climates in California.  Such as Death Valley, the place where redwood trees grow, and the coast line in southern California.  But walnut trees grow in a variety of climates in many parts of the USA.  All of the Midwest states can grow walnut trees.  All of the Northeast states can grow walnut trees.  How does the location of growth affect the walnut?
