Can a Festool abrasive sand granite?

I had a chip in a piece of granite that I was able to superglue back into place.  Even though the piece fits almost perfectly back in its original spot, it is just a hair raised from the surface (could be the layer of glue or other minute particles).  What type of abrasive (and grit) should I use, either via hand or with my Rotex, to smooth out the surface?  I'm not concerned about cosmetics as this piece is just in my workshop.  The piece is only about an inch long.

Thanks!

Your timing is perfect.  Tom Bellemare recently posted about the availability of the new Festool abrasive Diamant.  I don't know if that would work or not.  Might be worth contacting Tom and seeing what he thinks.  Here's a link to Tom's post.

If its only just that small piece to sand flat, then granat discs should do the job. They were designed for hard surface benchtops like granite/engineered stone and acrylic.

I just came to ask the same question.

OK, so granat should work as I figured, but what grits?  On some other website, they mentioned using diamond sandpaper, all the way up to 3,000 grit.

I figure that at a certain point, I might have to switch to some kind of pad & compound.  -  or maybe Vlies pads, or?

Besides the above, for a typical job, I have a question for my somewhat unique job:

I could not find the 2 chips that somehow came out of my countertop. (gremlins must have taken them)  They were both about the size of a thumbnail, maybe 10mm deep, and the granite is a mottled light brown.  So, I decided to fill the chips in with an amber-colored epoxy.

This actually worked well, it's almost imperceptible, except that the epoxy is now a bit higher than the granite.  So, I'm hoping to sand down JUST the epoxy, until about level with the granite.  Obviously, I'll probably hit the granite, but I'm wondering if there's an abrasive that will NOT sand granite too much, yet have a decent chance on epoxy.

Maybe a weird question, I know, but does anyone have any thoughts on this?

-thanks.
