Can CS 70 LA (or CS 50) work on a MFT table?

Dear FOG members.

In a fit of excitement I bought a CS 50 micro adjustable fence without making sure that it will work on the MFT table.  The result is that it is to short for my MFT table.  I find the micro adjustment (as on my Felder) extremely useful and was really hoping it would work on my MFT table.

I have removed the rear "hook / clamp" so I can use it.  There seems to be no movement on the fence but I think it will be more secure and safe if one could clamp it at the rear.

Does Festool offer an adapter or has anybody come up with a other solution?

Thank you

No, it won't fit. MFT is too big for those accessories.

What advantage do you think do these fences offer that the MFT already doesn't?

The CS 50 isn't going to fit but I can't see any reason why the CS 70 LA wouldn't.

The CS 70 LA is used on the CS 70 and the MFT/3-VL; the latter has the exact same profiles and dimensions as the MFT/3 so I believe it would work.

I know from experience that the CS 70 LA will fit on a MFT/3. I have to admit that I have never quite figured out how the fine adjustment works…

I disabled the fine adjustment on my CS70 LA fence because I found it cumbersome. I sometimes wonder if I should give it another shot. IIRC, I think Alex is not too enamored of the fine adjustment as well. Alex?

Well, I stand corrected.

I don't have a MFT/3 so I looked up the dimensions on the website, and the CS70 is 690 mm long, while the MFT is 773 mm, so how does that work? Where do those 83 mm go?

And no, I don't like the fine adjustment, I took it out. I don't need it at all, what do I care about 0,1 mm when I'm building a garden fence. All it did was make moving the CS 70 LA a PITA.

You can check on e-kat which parts you need to convert your cs 50 LA to a CS 70 LA.
From the looks of it, you'd need partnumbers 464515 (number 11 in drawing) and 464516 (number 15 in drawing).

I don't know for sure as I don't own a CS 70, but from my CS 50 experience, I'm guessing it's the difference between the "table" depth listed for the CS 70 and the actual unit depth. The MFT/3 top for instance is actually 1102 x 718mm, although the overall depth is 773mm.

Thanks FOG-ers for all the replies and comments.

I looked into it and it is clear that the CS70 is longer. (Something I overlooked in my initial excitement). Regarding the measurements that some quoted it is not clear what the reference mark for these measurements are.

I will be very surprised if the clever Germans did not think of using the CS70 fence on a MFT.

Still hope to receive a definitive answer.

Regards

Andreas

Can someone inform us as to the order of adjustment/locking when setting this LA fence and micro adjustment?
I always seem to have to fiddle with it, locking the LA fence with the large knob, then the fence lever, then the small lever on the adjustment but sometimes I get the order wrong and lock the wrong part first and have no micro adjust working or the fence twisting across at one end instead of both ends.
So like alex sometimes I simply just use the main lock on the fence only.
