Can the new 8ah battery be used with CTLC SYS?

Is anybody actually running a ctc midi? I’d like to get one to try it out potentially but I’m sort of assuming you’ll need to least 4 5ah batteries for this to function reasonably well? Be curious to hear people’s experience

Well, the first set won't be charged before the second set is empty.

The first set is probably also too hot to charge directly after it comes out of the vac empty.

It’s hard to convince me how making a high demanding cordless tool compatible only with small batteries make any sense. Imagine having a V8 sports car with a 10-gallon gas tank.

Shortly:
The "V8 sports car" from Festool is the CT26 with the SYS POWERSTATION 1500Wh fuel tank. Besides, "sports cars" do not use (heavy) V8 engines for half a century or so, those are the muscle cars you were thinking of probably.

The "Small but-still-pimped-up Japanese car" is the CTC MINI with the dual 150Wh fuel tanks.

The "400 ccm pumped up Dragster Quad" is the CTC SYS with the dual 75Wh fuel tanks.

Stop thinking of the CTC SYS as "just another small cordless vac but now from Festool". It is a 1-mile dragster with the fuel tank to match.
If that is not what you need (most folks truly do not), just let it be and look at the CTC Mini (or the CT SYS) for your use case.

Sports car by definition should be fairly small and light. You are giving me an example with a CT26, which is neither small or light.

(2012 was a decade ago, when cars like BMW M3 and Audi R8 had V8 engines)

I currently own 4 Festool vacs and 2 Milwaukee vacs, so please allow me to know which one I need for my use case.

Before having the CTC Sys, I used to have 2x Milwaukee Packout (one wet, one dry) and a CT MINI I. The Milwaukee was used for quick clean up and the MINI when I need to make drywall cuts in customer’s homes. Most of the time the MINI would just sit, take space and be on my way in the work van.

Then the CTC Sys came out and it is literally the perfect tool for what I need. It’s small
enough to use for a quick clean up, and still has a nice long hose, which allows me to use it for drywall cutting. And on top of that, it integrates perfectly with my Bott racking, so it doesn’t take any floor space in my van. So now I only carry the CTC Sys and 1 Milwaukee vac.

And it does the job, don’t get me wrong, but it’s the most frustrating tool I have to use. That’s not what I expect from Festool.

Well, the crazy (or stupid) part is that it won’t even work on the CTC MINI/MIDI. Cordless vacuum is one of the most demanding tools, and to limit which batteries work on such tool..I still get mad every time I pull the CTC Sys out. On top of that, if you don’t hit the power button, batteries get drained in stand by.

Meanwhile the Milwaukee runs forever on a single 12Ah battery.

I can't confirm nor deny compatibility of the 8ah with the midi or mini but there is a cordless vac kit that comes with the 8ah batteries in Europe. I would be super confused if the 8ah was not compatible with those two vacs but yet came with the vac.
