The HKC is a brilliant saw, sold mine in 2016 and went all in on Mafell KSS saws - I would really like a cordless plunge saw that runs on a KSS/FSK rail (I have the TSV60 - but that thing is a heavy one trick pony that has no place on an FSK rail!)... the rep here said he thought the TS60 would be coming out in cordless this year - so we were close, but the new saw is not it. It would cost 0.01c to Festool to add this functionality..

Hope that's the case. Or maybe a specialized double battery that fits both contact points. Runtime on the CTC-Sys is not that great, and I almost always grab an extra pair to keep in reserve when operating it outside the shop.

Yeah, I have spare chargers like most of us so I tossed 2 in the to-go kit since that's when I use the CTC-Sys the most (it was purchased to keep the dust down during a kitchen remodel and worked great there). I possibly have a lot of holes in a concrete foundation to make and hope the runtime will keep the crazy fine dust down in the studio. (In before warnings: it's not post-tension; solid old-school slab)

The heavy weight was my initial reaction at the Woodcraft store.
I should try lifting a TS 60 (the one without the scoring blade).
Currently have the TSC 55, which at times seems to be heavy with both batteries on it.

The TS 60 is noticeably lighter than the 55. Mine is basically set aside for solid surface, since I got the TS60, it has become my primary.

That DTSC200 looks nice, definitely interested in that.
Fun fact, my first delta type sander, a Black&Decker “Mouse” had exchangeable tips incl. the plate that could be split to just sand with the tip. Proprietary sheets of abrasives came with two additional tips included per sheet. However, the split plate wasn’t up to the task of prolonged sanding. …
So yeah, that DTSC200 makes the short list here.

Tabless tech wouldn't increase the runtime dramatically, though. 4 Ah is still 4 Ah. There might be slight benefits. Tabless lets you use more of the capacity before thermal or voltage limits stop the tool. With tabless cells running cooler and sagging less, the battery management system can allow more of the nominal capacity to be used before cut‑off, which shows up as longer runtime even though the rated Ah is unchanged. I am not sure if the vac would benefit much from this. Not sure what limits runtime for the vac, capacity or battery management.

I don't think so but I'm not absolutely sure because I've been unable to find out anything on the new TBX4 & TBX8 batteries.

I would not expect that you would need a new/different charger. I would expect that the current TCL6 charger should work. But that's based on nothing other than my buying a couple of DeWalt Power Stack batteries recently and those work with pre-existing chargers. Festool could very well go in a whole different direction.

Besides, you can charge ALL current Festool 18V packs with their 20+ year old TCL 3 chargers. It just takes lots of time.
That said, getting the new SCA 16 is still a good idea - fast-charging a pack is beneficial if you want the best performance from it.
You want to charge a pack as fast as you would be pulling the power from it. Slow-charging makes the packs retain a bit more capacity but also makes them "lazy". The effect is nothing major - think single percentage points - but it is there.

Yeah tabless batteries don't need a new charger, take that to the bank.
I can't imagine that they would need a different charger,
Festool already has a broad range of chargers (3A, 6A, 8A and 16A)
There is a new systainer sized multicharger coming that is quite exciting: SYS-MC 6/4

Finally, some firm release dates for 2026 - March TSC 55 KSEB and February for DTSC 200.
Undoubtedly, this is for Europe and Not North America. But that DTSC pad is downright HUGE!

It's a month later, any more news on the TBX4 and TBX8 batteries?
I just invested in 4 of the current 8Ah batteries. Hope they are 'good' enough for the new machines. (aka if they can provide enough power)
And what about the new Systainer-charger, does it support AirStream? The current batteries need AirStream to cool the batteries before charging can start.
(I know the new tabless batteries don't need this cooldown, so maybe Festool decides to ditch AirStream-charging??

Festool states on the German website that the TBX 4/8 will be available in April; both batteries support Airstream.
Availability for the SYS-MC 6/4 is listed as June. Its maximum charging current is 6.0 A, so it is not a fast charger (Airstream chargers provide 16 A).
Batteries do not require Airstream; it merely enables faster charging by reducing waiting time for cooling and supporting higher currents. Tabless batteries do have a wider temperature range both for operation and charging, but they also profit from active cooling. All Airstream batteries can be charged in regular Festool chargers, including TBX 4/8.
