Can't seem to get Kapex miters calibrated

Tom
Did you end up getting this calibrated?
My Kapex has never been "spot on" and I've just lived with it, wish I just sent it back and got it replaced right from the get go, but thought it was probably just me and the way I was pulling the handle down or putting too much pressure one way or the other.
I've read Rick Christophersons manual on the Kapex , but I never knew one could move the mitre gauge back or forwards, only side to side. That may be what I need to do also.
I'm still also trying to get my bevel gauge right, I find it nearly impossible to loosen the nuts just enough to effect movement without the whole head tilting before I can get to tighten it in position. Frustrating. I'm gonna try again sometime over the weekend and see if I can get my mitres and bevels better.
Torx 20 is loose but works without stripping just be careful, don't know why its not a tight fit there but 25 is too big.

My advice to anyone who is going to get a Kapex is check it thoroughly as soon as possible and if not acceptable out of the box, ring Festool. I was too shy and figured I simply needed to learn how to use it correctly.

I assume this goes without saying, but....

Festool has a 30 day money back guarantee. If the saw is wonky out of the box, return it for a different unit, and if possible try it out in the store.

Festool has a 1+2 year warranty. If, after the first month, the saw goes out of alignment, simply send it in and let Festool deal with recalibrating it.

Finally, saws will eventually go a little out of alignment. After many years banging around in the back of my Sprinter, I sent my Kapex in to Festool this Winter for a once-over. For a few hundred dollars Festool completely tore down the saw, replaced a ton of parts, and recalibrated everything. Best of all, Festool turned my Kapex around very quickly. Including shipping, I think my saw was gone for just over a week.

I don't know how other FOG'ers value their time, but a few hundred dollars was, in my humble opinion, a bargain considering the amount of work Festool performed, and allowed me to get out there and keep generating revenue, instead of chasing my tail trying to fine tune my saw.

The way I see it, for the amount of money I spent on my tools, and for the amount of revenue those tools generate, I'm money-ahead just sending the tools in to Festool, since that's their job and carpentry is my job.

Just my $0.02.....
