Carvex 110v My thoughts on.....

Mine has been back twice to the French equivalent 
of TTS in England [tongue]
I think I'd like to emigrate to America. Or maybe we could entice Shane over to Europe?

But then if Shane came over here I could offer him French cuisine ( my wife isna gourmet cook -I didn't emigrate for nothing) and and and ??? All my NAINA tools - but now you've got the Planex the list is shrinking. The Vacsys, the Rotofix, the belt sanders - dammit they'll be there soon. Guess that just leaves the fantastic climate here

??? :Hi....GRUFF here...Im a shopfitting joiner who has worked all over the world and had just about any and every top end tool there is.
This 110v psb 400 carvex is terrible..
Ive only just used the thing for the first time and it was out of the 30 Day return thing....oh how I wish it wasnt..
As one guy did I relyed on the brand and previous tools Ive had....big mistake...
* First off it does the cardinal sin of you have to hold the body on and angle to keep the blade going straight
* secondly considering this tool was marketed with the 3 grip keep the blade straight like no other garbage..it does not
* the handle is too thin and cheap feeling
* cant believe they didnt put the safety start button on both sides like even diy jiggers do...wouldnt want to be left handed with one
* the box is too small for the 110v plug
*the trigger seems delayed and too far forward
*for a festool is is so far below par it is a disgrace
* oh and this thing with the accesoris only cost £500.......JESUS...get a grip festool....or make a better tool
The only thing I do like is ironically the strobe light...dont understand the auto on the speed setting though..???????
do you think if I get hold of fezzy and explain the one time use and huge dissapointment I can get my money back...??
if not its goin on Ebay even at a loss i could buy back £99 makita and be over the moon

I don't have a carvex, so can't talk from a personal use, I have a trion.
What I don't understand why festool don't withdraw these tools from the market I'm talking about Carvex Ti 15 and other sub standard tools. People pay high prices for quality tools, and these just don't cut the mustard.
They need to spend longer in RD before releasing tools to make sure they meet the standard expected by festool fans, because their reputation is at stake. In the past I would buy festool without hesitation, but not anymore, and I have nearly every tool they have made.

Greg, you best hope it stays that way. I have yet to send mine back for the 3rd time. Gruff, they tell me if it comes back for a third time for the same fault then they will give a brand new one. If I get a new one it's going straight on e bay. Worst tool ever. The Mafell is discounted just now ;D

hi troll and woodguy 7, my carvex is in with tts uk for the second time now as of the 17th july , button release flies off when i try to eject the blade and misses the pendulum when you try to eject the blade ,the saw blades are getting cut into at the back of the blade again, not cutting straight again , loose base plate, this saw only used twice since first repair so it's not very good, i never had problems with my trion only thing was the blade manual adjustment but thats me being very picky (now gone) i have asked for the service department to call me so that i can talk to the repairer /fitter, so i can confirm all will be repaired but as of today i called for an update only to be told they have a backlog so i shall wait and see, also my kapex is there so will wait and see if that gets sorted, i did mention to tts service that windmill guy had to have he's carvex sent back to germany to have the work carried out but i was not given any positive response , i must admit that the carvex does feel a lot lighter and the handle is thin i wonder if festool designed the d handle for glove wearers just a thought, well i shall put an update on as soon as i have the carvex back and tested , bye the way its a 240 volt.

update on my carvex, i had a call today from tts uk , i was told my jigsaw has all the latest electronics fitted and would perform like the newest version i hope this is true i also enquired why the saw is so light and was told that if was designed for less vibration to the user, i was also told that a number of the carvex come back to the service/ repair centre with the wrong type of blade being used i can only think the blades were burnt when trying to scroll and cut very tight curves, well tts are sending me more blades so i shall try them along with the other 100 i have and test out all the various cutting applications and see how it goes, its due back to me on monday 23rd july so i shall post on my findings, just a footnote here, i was called by a guy who gave he's name and the department if i have any problems i should ask for him so fingers crossed.
The last engineer at TTS I spoke to tried to imply that I didn't know how to use a jigsaw. I told him I've only been in the construction industry for 26 years. He retracted his statement. I have to say that my Makita jigsaw that cost a third of the Carvex is 3 times as good.
Another thing that bugs me is to do an angled cut you have to buy a very expensive base plate for an already very expensive jigsaw. Most other jigsaws have an adjustable base as standard.

hey woodguy , i have just received my carvex back today with all the upgrades to include the on off function for strobe and all the other electronics associated with the saw, also a new base and yet again the roller retainer/ gear cover /slide switch, seven things in total, well i tried the jigsaw on some beech worktop on some straight cuts with a new blade and its cutting very straight i also tried some long and short radius cuts and very tight curves it looked pretty good , the only thing i will have to note is on radius cuts it doesnt look as though it is completely perpendicular but i shall try another square to make 100% i also tried the same cuts with my dewalt xrp cordless saw and there were noticable cuts with the carvex being the better of the two and i was using the same festool blades on each of them, i am expecting some additional blades from tts tomorrow for radius cuts i dont know if they are any better than the ones i have already but hey they are free so i cant complain, tts uk have been very good regarding the calls i get back so i cant fault them on that, well one of my kapex 120s should be repaired tomorrow and i will be interested with what they do to that, i shall post back on the kapex and updates on the carvex if the need arises , did your carvex get sorted out ? all the best green.

hey woodguy i would definitely get on and do it i think you will be surprised at what you get back, i tried against a straight edge and tried the same cut with four other jigsaws and this carvex was the better cut also on curves and radius, i will see if i can test it against some tougher worktops laminate as this tends to test the saw for wobble etc, all the best green.
