Carvex Cutting Issues

There is pitch residue from the wood I am using as well,

I'd say that was your problem. If you have enough pitch in the wood to show on the blade, it is probably also clumping your sawdust in the gullets of the blade and preventing the blade from cutting.

That was my initial thought, however, I have attempted to cut 8/4 maple as well with the same results.

Gudde,

What type of wood are you cutting?  How thick is it?  How about doing a quick sanding of both sides to show us what you are cutting through?

The Carvex does not sound like it is laboring.  Does the blade slow down or stop moving?

I'd set it up so I could keep both hands on the saw.
