Carvex Sighting

Before the chaos ensues, the article was written prior to the postponement in the Carvex launch.

Good catch though, Chris.

My guess is that when the Carvex is finally coming to North America there will be announcements from the mountain tops and you won't read about it first in a magazine.  [thumbs up]

It is just a jigsaw for cripes sakes.

Is that your unbiased response for when you receive your pre-release test model?

I have not laid my hands on a Carvex, nor seen one in person.

Like I said, it is just a jigsaw.  Some times, some people get way too worked up over a power tool.

Everyone has his / her passions.  Yes it is only a tool, but this is a forum about tools.  And the Carvex does have features that we haven't seen before on similar tools.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree - like the ability to use a jigsaw on the rail - how many times would you even want to?  Jigsaw's make crappy circular saws, though they are handy to get a bit closer...

Having added that - Dewalt makes a very deep truss-enforced jigsaw blade that allows you to do cuts probably close to 1/2" out from the front of the shoe - could be very handy at times.

Folks round here must be using their jigsaws for higher precision uses than what I use mine for.  Too bad us Americans are too wimpy to be able to handle a strobe-ed blade, does look like a nice system.  Hopefully it doesn't have the tedious manual blade thickness adjusting screws; the Bosch self adjust mechanism saves a bunch of time over doing it with an allen wrench.

Uh you guys use a jigsaws?

I use mine once a year.. if that...  But I am a hobbyist and not in cinstruction or anything...
