A month or so back my carvex would not eject the blade. Putting a new blade in was a major bit of work, had to take off the base and use pliers.

I sent it in for warranty, and I just got it back today.

The problem was the blades that I was using are not meant for the carvex, rather they are for the trion. Something about the back of the blade? not sure exactly.

So if you get a Collins coping foot for your carvex, make sure that the free blades they include say "carvex" on them and not trion. The blades have the same part number.

Some people have problems removing a blade because they leave the splinter guard fitted (or the foot attached) whilst they try to make the change. The blade needs to be able to rotate by 45 degrees which is prevented by the splinter guard.

A second problem can occur, not very often, when the Carvex stops in an odd position and the blade change lever cannot engage with the blade ejector on the shaft. If that occurs, run the machine for a few seconds. It might take a couple of goes to get it back in the right place.

I can't remember when but I made a video about this latter effect and I remember that it took me half a day to get the Carvex to come to rest in the wrong position.

It is a lovely jigsaw - yesterday I was up a ladder trying to fix a plastic guttering down pipe. I had to cut 2" off the pipe but it was stuck in place so I used the Carvex. Knife through butter would be a good description. The only other way would have been a hand saw.

Something to note;  in the 2013 catalog the part # for blade number four (S75/4 FS) in the picture is not the Carvex version It is the Trion version. But the picture shows a Carvex version.

Trion S 75/4 FS = 486 549

Carvex S 75/4 FS =  499 476

I had a similar issue this weekend, the blade came out ok, but then I could not get the new blade in.  The quick release would not turn back.  I sprayed a little WD40 on it and it seemed to fix the problem.  What is the best method to set the clearance of the blade guide?

Watch this video which covers how to set the guides.
