The soon to be released limited edition 89 piece Centrotec Installers kit being released on Dec 1st, versus the 98 piece one they have now discontinued. What are the differences in the kit? Why the change when most of the stuff is the same, except it seems they removed 8 pieces.

Following Shane's post I wondered what the differences were between UK and US kits.

The always available kit is 497628
http://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/Festool%20Sys1%20Ce%20Sort%204014549147771%20Centrotec%20Systainer%20Kit%2098%20Piece%20Assembly%20Package

Comparing with the two US kits - our drill bits are metric, we are missing the two socket adaptors, new square drive bits, BH65 bit holder.

We gain hinge centring bits and the CENTROTEC drill bit BTA HW D5 CE with depth stop D 5mm 496451.

We also have had two limited editions:
Festool 500875 Wood Set SYS-Centrotec 2015/W in and attic systainer

Festool 200909 Sys Centrotec Hd/15 Accessory Set with auger bits and a 1/2" ratchet.

See attached PDF for the detail.

I like how they use all the space in the NAINA Centrotec kits. I do wish that if they weren't going to use all the space in these kits, they at least make the remaining space useful. I have an older kit that I've added to, but there is little room for anything other than what is/was supplied. Having a quarter of the available space hidden by the plastic tool liner does't serve us well. We might just purchase additional items... Hello, anyone out there?  [blink]

The BIG problem I see with these kits is that they may become a 'might as well' item, as it doesn't take too many items to get to the price point where the kit looks good. And it is looking good to me about now. I was wanting the Centrotec handle and the adapters. And the Imperial Brad-Point drills. See, I'm almost there already...  [scared] [unsure] [smile] [tongue]

I really wish Festool would move away from this annual installer set mentality and give us a decent component solution that allows for mix/match/upgrade over time.

Yea Kev it would be nice to have a make your own set program

WAY too many options for that to ever be a viable option for Festool, IMO.

Well, they could offer tool sets in the insert trays [like] they currently use, or even drawer inserts for the new Systainers/Sortainers. That way one could mix and match to build the kit they wanted -- like, well, a system. Then we wouldn't have to continue to complain about the waisted space below one side of the kit...  [blink]

I find all these Centrotec kits have a lot of wasted real estate in them, fine for a shop I guess but when you empty out all those contents inside these kits and look at the pile of bits and pieces your left with, it's very small compared to the Size of a Sys 1.
But my main gripe with all these kits is all the 25mm bits that you seem to get now. Give me more useful Centrotec stuff and less piles of 25mm bits that I can buy anywhere.

I agree.did notice that the much used hook driver is missing(ALONG WITH THE MINI BRAD POINT DRILL BITS)

2 things I really don't use from my kit. I would like a spring loaded hinge bit.

I really wish they would offer the larger auger bits.
