Changes to Forum Board Structure

Everyone,
Unfortunately, increasing the recent posts from 100 to 500 turned out to be more complicated than it sounds. 

Keep in mind that changes like this often must be made manually, by altering the lines of code in the forum's files.  It's not always as easy as changing a number.

Now, several times I have gone "under the hood" and tweaked the mechanics of the forum software to make improvements.  But this one, for now at least, has me stumped.  I cannot locate the line(s) of code that are responsible for increasing the number of recent posts from 100 to 500.  I thought I had found the answer, but then I checked the forum and realized it was still displaying 100 instead of 500.

I've got some people in the SMF technical forum trying to figure it out, and I will report back here the moment I get an answer.
