Cherry Fireplace trim with domino

Removed some fake brick arround my fireplace and was left with a very uneven surface (not flush with the fireplace as well) so made a cherry mantle and attached it with the domino. Drilled right into some studs. Damaged a bit hitting a nail, but I knoew that could happen. Everything is super solid. Then paint and trim. done. wife is happy, I am happy.

Very nice. I like that look a lot. The white trim that does the step-down around the base is great.
Did you add another layer of drywall to cover that mess? That was rough as a dry corn cob.
 
Oh yes, I added a layer of drywall. The trim around the fire place really hides the fact that nothing is flush/straight…I suck at drywall so that why I went with lots of trim :)
