Cherry table

Been saving a big piece of cherry I found years ago, for something special.  Decided it was time to make myself something. 

Board for the top was probably stored in a millshop for 70+ years.  Just need to attach the tops to bases.

I had to save it for something special.  My dining room table seemed appropriate.  Hopefully it lives a long life well after I'm gone.

Cherry for me in Europe, is rare..
I once laid cherry parquet for my first flat in the living room and kitchen.
It’s the nicest I’ve had floor to look at, especially with some sunlight shining on it. It was so vivid and had a depth I hadn’t seen before. It was constantly transforming depending on the ambient light. Sadly I haven’t seen any offerings since (This was back in 1994).

You’re lucky with this, hope you’re enjoying it for years!

I keep coming back to cherry for most of my furniture builds. And I too have saved slabs "for something special" but now being an elder I figure it's time to use whatever I may have for whatever I may build. Glad you too found a worthy project and I'm sure it will be a keepsake.  [smile]

I have only been there once. It was for a very specific reason. We took a little detour, from the Interstate, after seeing all of the signs. The Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg Museum is one of the coolest things I ever got to see....entirely unplanned. It was just a whim.
It's not that far (175 miles) but I didn't even know it existed. This would have been 1989-90?

We even got in free, on a Monday, when they normally weren't open on Mondays. It was some special occasion and we just got lucky.

It's even better now.  I live across the street and try to go a few times a year. The buildings are as cool as all the cars.
