I apologize in advance for the length of this post. I'm pretty sure you won't mind if you read all the way to the end. OR - if you're one of THOSE people - skip to the end.
[tongue]
I have been extremely busy the last couple of weeks. Multiple all-day appointments at the hospital, a couple of sick days, etc. Oh - and there’s been this project I’ve been working on...
[cool]
The vendor for the systainers (Lee Valley) went out of their way to get them to me quickly. I delivered them to the printer early last week, with a promise that they would be ready by Thursday or Friday of this week. That’s cutting it close for Christmas delivery, but that’s all they would promise.
In the meantime I starting counting, filling, packaging, and staging everything I could to make this go as quickly and smoothly as possible. Just some of things I’ve done in advance are:
• Count and package THOUSANDS of bandages, including some ‘packages in packages'
• Count out THOUSANDS of unit-dose medication packages
• Unwrap and open Med-Boxes
• Cut and fit dividers into Med-Boxes
• Fill all the Med Boxes in advance - there are 109 individual items, btw
• Fit dividers into attic lids
• Pre-fill the attic lids (93 items, not counting individual gauze sheets)
• Count and stage the main systainer contents
• Print and attach numerous labels
• I even went so far as to tear the bubble wrap into the proper lengths, since it can be kinda 'futsy'
Then when they get here, I need to quickly and efficiently:
• Fill the Systainers - in multiple 'layers'
• Re-attach the lids
• Attach the red ‘First Aid’ T-Loc
• MAKE THE FUDGE (Must be done at the last minute so it’s as fresh as possible)
• Cut & package the fudge
• Put Fudge in systainers
• Bubble Wrap systainers
• Box systainers
• Ship systainers
And those are just SOME of the steps I have on my checklist. I think you get the idea?
But I thought you might enjoy seeing some photos of the process:

So - I told you that these Christmas Systainers will go out with our world-famous fudge - and they will. Mrs WOW and I stayed up until 3am this morning making it so it would be as fresh as possible. So...
How good is WOW's fudge?
Remember when I told you that the printer promised me that they would have the systainers and latches done Thursday or Friday? Well, I shamelessly bribed them with fudge. The printer 'magically' managed to find room to sneak them in while some other jobs were drying - imagine that?!
[thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]
I was able to pick them up at the end of the day Monday. I spent yesterday filling them and waiting for FedEx to deliver a missing item, then - thanks to having the contents organized in advance - finishing them up. And, like I said earlier, Mrs. WOW and I worked until 3am to get the fudge made so it could set up for a few hours. When I got home from my hospital appointment's today I cut and packaged it, and put it in the systainers. Then, while I printed shipping labels, Mrs. WOW boxed them up. The FedEx cutoff is at 6pm - we were there with a whole 10 minutes to spare. [eek]
And....?
The Christmas version of the
First Aid Systainers
SHIPPED TODAY!
Yes, ALL of them!
Everybody should get theirs by Friday, or Monday at the latest.
And we are now going to collapse for a few days.
[wink]
Before we do, though, both Mrs. WOW and I would like to take a moment to bid you all of you and your families...
A Very Merry Christmas!!!
