Chucks and Centrotec

I recently got a CXS and a Centrotec Installers set.  I am now looking at a TI15 Hybrid Impact Driil.  I have a couple of questions:

1.  Are all the bits/drivers in the installers set impact compatible?

2.  Are the chucks in the installers set / CXS set compatible with the TI 15?  Seems like both the CXS and the TI are Fastfix compatible which leads me to think yes.  However, the right angle chuck for the CXS appears different than the other right angle chuck for other Festool drivers and that makes me wonder.

3.  Any reason these two would not be a good pair of Festool drills?  If I buy the TI 15 and pair it with the CXS I thinking I will have all the drilling functionality I would every need in three Systainers (CXS Set, TI 15 and Centrotec Installers set).

4.  Would the Fastfix Depth Stop Chuck work in both the CXS and the TI15?

3.Its a great set up but you might even be happier with just a regular T15 or better yet T18 drill. What are you using these for?

I love my CXS its extremely powerful for its size and amongst my other three HILTI drills it my favorite! Im considering a second!

The TI 15 is not considered a good drill and only usable for small diameters.
The Depth Stop chuck doesn't fit the CXS and only works with the adapter on the TI 15.
With the adapter and a chuck the TI 15 becomes unbalanced and heavy.

Festool sells impact driver bits and holder. the others aren't considered impact resistant.

None of the chucks except the Centrotec & Keyless that work with the big drills/TI 15 will work with the CXS. That includes the Depth Stop, Right Angle, and Eccentric. The CXS has a unique FastFix system.

I don't have much need for the impact capabilities.  I will use the drill for basic carpentry (hobbyist), home owner stuff, etc.  Just sometime need a little more power than the CXS and want to move to complete Centrotec and retire the DeWalts.

After yoursuggestion of the T15/T18, neeleman's comment on the balance and Tom's reply on impact ready bits, I think I will go back to my original plan which was the T18.  The detour to the T15 was based on wondering if I could get everything I need and get impact capabilities for "free".

In a thread I started on the Centrotec Installers Set some others mentioned the CXS and the T18 being a great pair.  Y'all agree that is a great drill pair for those like me?

I currently have 4 Festool drills, for demo' and other purposes... They are the CXS, C 15, T 18, and TI 15.

I normally reach for either the C 15 (my favorite) or the CXS (light). There are several occasions when the TI 15 is the solution.

Most recently, it was to remove a couple of Phillips head screws holding the top of my office door. They are steel in aluminum and appeared to be a bit galled. I'm pretty good at getting stuck screws loose with just a screwdriver but they wouldn't budge. A few taps with the TI 15 and a non-impact driver bit and they were spinning freely.

The TI 15 is capable of driving pretty big lags so it isn't a wimp.

The T 18 is a serious drill. I'm just more fond of the "C" configuration...

If you aren't in a big hurry, you might want to wait and see if Festool's PDC 18V Quadrill will be released in North America soon. Pretty much will handle any task except those requiring a hammer drill, so the CXS for general use, and the PDC for heavy use would be an ideal combination in my view.

I own the CXS, T18+3, PDC and BHC (SDS Hammer Drill).  The only reason I'm still keeping the T18 is that there is no eccentric chuck for the PDC, so the T18 will sit in its systainer feeling lonely awaiting the likely very rare need for the eccentric chuck use! ( I'm starting to feel sorry for it. [sad])

If you can't wait, then I'd go for the T18+3 along with your CXS. Either way, you'll be a happy customer! [big grin]

I thought I read somewhere on FOG the PDC has no time table to come the NA.

There is NEVER a timetable from Festool, but considering that interest is extremely high for the drill in North America, it would be surprising if we didn't see it here in the coming months....or at least in 2015.

Good decision on the T18, for a DIY'er I doubt you will find anything the drill can't do you will certainly be ahead of 99% DIY'ers and Hobbyist's.

I did order a T18+3.  Drill should be here next week at which time I retire the DeWalts and move to full Centrotec.
