clamping elements binding

After about 18 months of use, sometimes one of my clamping elements binds a bit when I am trying to retract it. I have to wiggle the handle up and down in this situation. I see a hex adjuster, but I am not sure what it is intended to adjust, though. Anyone experience this or know how to remedy it?

Thanks!

Check and see if you have a little “bite” in the metal bar.  If you clamped it with some force, the metal can get nicked, and will bind on the mechanism.
Only solution:  File it off.  Only takes a second and a couple swipes.

A file and maybe even some dry lube as well.  But I think Wood Junkie is dead on, probably a lil bite in the metal that a file will take care of.

FYI - That little allen head screw adjusts how much pressure the clamping element places on the object once tightened.
