Clever MFT-Style Workbench

Cool idea, the guy just spent too much time demonstrating the unimportant features (oh gee, look where I can put my toes!).

It's a transformer!

I'll bet that would be even MORE awesome if you made it out of 80/20. Think of the possibilities?!

Looks like you could make something like that for a real MFT/3.  Take the legs off the MFT and mount it to the rest of that design and voila.

Being designed for a job site bench (I suspect), that has to be one heavy monster to move from truck bed to indoor site and back.  I like Tim's design better for that purpose.
However, it looks like, with some slight modifications, it would work in a shop where it needs only to be moved around within the shop.
I think I might be a simpler build than Tim's design.  Looking at the two designs, I think Tim's wood work the best for a shop as small as mine.

I has me thinking vis-a-vis my small shop project...

Mobile and/or wall-mounted versions?

Fixed the link above. Also can search for tehdoor's channel on youtube and see his workbench for workshop videos. He has other interesting videos to check out, too.

Was this a dance video or a woodworking video?  The way this dude was spinning this bench around in the corner, I thought it was his date!!!    BTW. I thought it would be great to have this monster bench on site.
Cheers!!

Pretty nice bench. But to tell ya the truth, It isnt much different ten a MFT. But I bet its alot cheaper

Neat design but looks to heavy/bulky to come out of the shop.

Just fold up the legs and hang you mft on the wall!

Same went through my mind [big grin]

I'm not a fan of fold up benches ... it's personal, not being critical of the guy's work. A bench to me is a worktop with storage below.

Also, that bench doesn't look much of a site to site capable rig if you are in need of something mobile - think it'd come into it's own if you kept your workshop "in a cupboard" and deployed stuff to work.

I don't know how I missed this post originally, but I've just watched the video. Really nice for workshop use, but as others have said it'd be far too tricky to get it in & out of a vehicle.

One thought I had was that for a workshop, you could modify this design so you could load an 8x4 sheet on vertically (or nearly vertically) & use the bench to drop it down to horizontal ready for cutting. I store my sheets in a vertical rack (stood on end) and getting them from this position to horizontal in my tiny shop is a nightmare!

I was distracted by wondering what happened to the clamps.

But, if kraftwork ever made a video about an MFT it wouldbe hard to beat this one!
