Clogged CT36 Hose

I have a CT36 with the 27mm hose and the cheap cleaning kit with wand and floor nozzle. Problem is that unless I use a broom to clean up anything much larger than a chip the nozzle gets plugged multiple times while cleaning the shop floor. I know it's a small diameter hose, but man it's annoying that I have a $600 vac (yes, I know "dust extracter") that can't do what my $50 shop vac can. Yes, it's a good dust extracter but it's frustrating that I need to have 2 vacs in the shop, one for dust and one for larger debris. Maybe I'm being picky, but for the price of these vacs I really expected more.

I sort of agree. I have a Bosch extractor with a 35mm hose as standard. I think the 27mm hose is more of a specialist size for sanding when a lighter hose is required. For most other tasks the larger hoses are either better or don't pose a disadvantage. I think it would be better for Festool vacs to be supplied with the 36mm hose as standard and the 27mm as an optional accessory.

They actually recommend using the 36mm hose for shop cleaning tasks, or even the 50mm one.  As you've observed, the 27mm is simply too narrow to pick up larger debris.

EDIT: If you're concerned about cost, you don't have to go anti-static on a dedicated cleaning hose.  You could also simply stick a larger non Festool hose on the Vac.

I guess I need to buy the 36mm hose. I wish they let you choose hose diameter when purchasing. Will my festool cleaning tools fit on the 36mm hose?

I have the cheapest cleaning set and use a Mr. Nozzle 36 mm hose.  My tools work on that and also on the Festool hoses.  Can't say about other brands though.

The 27 mm hose fits more Festools than the 36 mm hose. I believe this is why the 27 is the standard.

The thread title is very deceiving, it's the hose getting clogged not the CT 36.

Here's an even better solution for Festool: charge a reasonable price for hoses. You already convinced us that we need a $700 vac, cut us a break on the accessories. I can't imagine the profit margin on Festool accessories. A replacement hose costs 1/7th the price of the entire vac.

I have the Bosch 36mm anti-static hose but I replaced the connectors with Festool ends.  Still cheaper than Fes hoses.

I have the bosch hose antistatic hose as well and it works perfect once the ends are replaced. However, I was using it on the back of my router table last night and I could actually see sawdust leaving the workbench behind it and attaching to the hose about 10 cm above the bench from the static.

It's not strictly the hose that fits, but the adapter. I don't own a Festool vac but the Bosch fits all tools either by the adapter fitting over the dust ports of the smaller tools or inside on the larger tools.

What adapter, the cuff on the end of the hose? I don't use any adapters on any of my Festool hoses (I have about a dozen hoses) for any for my Festools.

Cuff/adapter... All my point is the hose would be able to fit all tools regardless of being 36mm.

The Festool 36 mm hose will not fit the sanders. There cuff bore is to large for the port on the sander.

Is the cuff bore of the Bosch 36 mm hose 27 mm?

I have this Bosch hose:
http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-VAC005-...?ie=UTF8&qid=1462546252&sr=8-1&keywords=Bosch+vac5

the vac end fits the CT. The tool end on it is basically the same size wise as the 27mm Festool one. The inside hole fits the sander ports and the whole thing slides inside the bigger ports like the saws and the router ports.

If you want it to work like the Festool 36mm where it fits outside the 36mm ports, then you must change it to the Festool 36mm reducing connector

A good option is the tradesman's cleaning set in a SYS-5. A 36mm x 3.5m hose with good quality stainless steel vacuum tools. Great for both workshop or on-site use. A Festool 36mm hose is expensive but I think this SYS-5 kit is good value.
