I have an older Kreg system that shares a similar problem. Not a huge problem, but nevertheless...
One hand to hold the work up, one hand to operate the clamp... but the clamp is on the other side of the work.
My shop-mate has the newer Kreg setup. the new Kreg system has the clamping handle on the same side as the drill bushings. Much less awkward to use.
It doesn't seem like such a big deal, but if the piece you're drilling into is sufficiently wide, it means you have to reach over the top edge of it, which can be pretty awkward... or you have to walk around it. Either way, it's slower to use.
