Coloured latches for systainers.

I know that Tanos makes systainer latches of colours other than just green and grey.

I use systainers for many different purposes and being able to colour code them into families by the use of different colours would be a big help to me.

Christian, you once sent me (free) a pair of yellowish latches which I use on the systainer that holds my Dewalt mains powered drill.  I can easily pick out that drill from a pile when I am working offsite.  That?s example of what I mean.

Would it be possible for Festool USA to stock some latches of other colours?  I would probably purchase  about 10 pairs right away if you did.

What colors?

I know someone is going say, what colors do you have?, so here's some help.

Festool-supplied Systainers are Light Grey with Festool Green and Light Grey latches.

The latches for the SYS 1-5 and the Maxi are available in at least the following colors:

Black
Carmine Red
Daffodil Yellow
Dark Grey        (I think this is "Anthrazit", the dark grey that is the second standard Tanos body color)
Emerald Green  (darker than Festool Green)
Heaven Blue      (= a light blue)
Signal Blue        (This is the standard latch color for Tanos Light Grey Systainers)

Christian, please correct me if I've made any errors.

I would be interested in about 10 latches, in various colors.

Ned

Actually, that would be handy for several reasons one being the labels fall off the systainers (Festool must buy those in. they can't be made by festool, they fall off too easily)

I always have to open several to find the darn Fein multitool, Probably a selection of 10 or a dozen in a pack would be ideal (I guess depending on colors available)

What colors?

Christian
I found 12 different colours at the Tanos web site.  Of those, I would like red, black, yellow, mauve, and light blue.

I'd like to see the latches sold either individually or in pairs of the same color.

No pre-packaged assortment will fit everyone's needs.

The same thing has happened to a lot of the Festool supplied labels on my systainers.  I made labels for these systainers with my Dymo label amker and they have stayed in place.  The only problem is that the printing is quite small.

Guys, guys, we're asking Christian to do us a favor, and we still can't seem to post without complaining.

I fully expect to pay for my latches, and I will be grateful to Christian for helping us get them.

Ned, I grant you that both Steve and I did complain about losing the labels, but we did so in the context of no label being one of the reasons that we could make use of coloured latches.

I think that we all expect to pay for latches, should they become available.

Frank, thanks for leaping in, yes, I meant no critism also, except for the damn labels, needing replacing, um, not that they aren't great and everything.

Of course I expect to pay. I usually find that free stuff is worth what you pay for it anyway.

Christian,

I'd love to have assorted colors.  The ability to identify at a glance would add even more utility to the systainers!  Thanks for asking.

Christian, I too would love to have a variety of different label colors and have no problem with paying for them either. Thank you, Fred

Fred, it is coloured latches that we are talking about here, not coloured labels.

I am requesting Gold colored latches to give my systainers some Bling like two gold teeth ;D

It may be the extreme cold up here today or that I am just getting crotchety, but I wouldn't ask Festool for colors. I would go to my Ace Hardware and splurge and get 2 or 3 cans of the spray paint for plastic (Krylon Fusion Plastic Spray paint). The latches come off easily so should be a snap to color.  I want to save Festool support for real things. But as I said, I may just be crotchety today.

You can also change color via Rit Dye.  I use it to change RC Heli parts.

I didn't know that such paint existed.   Is  this paint very durable?

We don't have Ace hardware here in Canada, but I expect that it is available here somewhere.   If I can find it I will experiment.

Thanks for being crotchety!  ;D
