Received my set today. Nice assortment of cleaning tools. One question. What is the green sliding tab which opens and closes a series of openings used for?I should rephrase my question. Why the openings in the main tube?

[welcome] to the fog

i presume it is ther for the same reason it is on a standard vacum cleaner. it is to reduce suction on deticate items. maybe it will alow dust to be sucked up but not big lumps that would damage the bag or block the hose

Silly me.  I thought it was so you could peek in and see what's getting sucked up.  [doh]  [tongue]

Hi,

Yes, it reduces suction but also it does something else that just reducing the suction on the vac does not. It creates an additional inlet for air and keeps the cleaning tools from getting sucked down tight to the object and then just closing off.  For example if I vac the rubber mat in my shop even on a lower vac setting the  cleaning head tends to "stick" to the mat. Slide the green thingy open a couple notches and no more sticking.

This set literally changed my life. It is so easy to use and hook up, my shop is always so much cleaner and it takes so little time and effort. Other shop vacs with their bulky hoses, lousy attachments and loudness proved to be unusable for me. I just added a 5 meter 36 mm non antistatic hose and now I get to every point in the shop without moving my CT22. It's great.
