This is embarrassing, but I am a total newbie. I just bought a Fisch wave cutter forstner bit to drill a hole in a tv console but I can’t figure out how to connect it to my drill. Do I need an adapter?  If so, can someone please recommend one?

The Centrotec chuck does not accept "regular" hex bits .. so your best bet is to just put it in the Jacobs chuck as in a regular drill.

Thank you for your reply. I have that chuck but the shaft on the forstner bit is too large to fit between the three clamps even when opened to its widest. It’s a 1 7/8” bit. Package also has these dimensions OAL 90mm 3-1/2”. Are there any other options?

Those bits are supposed to have a 3/8" reduced shank and that's a 1/2" chuck. Are you sure the chuck is opened up all the way?

You were right about chuck not being fully opened. It’s a new tool and took a bit of elbow grease to open it beyond a certain point. Thank you for your help!  I’ve got a long way to go with learning how to use these awesome tools!

You're welcome and welcome to the FOG! I was having a similar tussle with one of those chucks not three months ago. Customer service promptly sent me a new chuck that got here just days after I figured out the problem was a user error. Now I've got to send it back. :P
