I am new to the Festool world. Been looking at them for months. As I am not familiar with all the hose adapters yet and I don't want to do a trial and error adapter purchase. I have a 27 MM hose and trying to connect it to the Dewalt 735 Planner. What hose adapters do I need? Does anyone have experience with this? Would appreciate any help.

I have to agree with Chuck, 15 minutes with the DW 735 will fill that CT 36 bag, and 15 minutes later another bag will be filled...and so it goes. My 735 is connected to a Jet cyclone which has a 40+ gallon capacity. Some folks plumb the 735 into a garbage can while others plumb it into a bag which they spread on their garden. A large container is definitely your friend. [big grin]

Though, I have no idea if it will fit the 735. It is possible that the inner port on the 735 dust output will match the diameter. Though, you are better off getting a full size dust collector with 4" hose. Grizzle has them starting at $290. (though they have a nice 1-1/2 HP on sale now for $525).

Don. Even with light use, the Dewalt will fill your CT36 up very quickly. You’d be better off directing a 4” flexible hose into a large garbage can fitted with an adaptor lid. The 735 has a built in blower that is very effective at moving the chips through the hose. As chuck and cheese pointed out, a dust collection system, even a lower cost one is much more appropriate for your application. I have a small laguna that is four times the capacity of my CT26, and even that fills up quicker than I’d like. The issue with relying only on the internal blower of the 735 is that chips tend to collect on the feed table, adding suction from a dust collector greatly reduces this. Sorry to not answer your initial question, but I think any adapter for a 27mm hose to the jointer would be largely futile.

I tried it with my makita planer, the extractor wont keep up with the chips. If I remember correctly the Dewalt ejects chips. So maybe you can attach a bag to the ejection port just make sure it dont get clogged to.

You can do what i did. I bought a cheap wall hung dust collect (shop fox) that hangs on the wall out of the way. I use that for planing and joining. It still isnt perfect, the bag fills up quickly so I have to keep a eye on it.
Harbor frieght has one for $159. Ya I know HF. But hey if all yer using it for is your planer it will work fine

"Even if" you decide to go with the CT plan, go with either of the bigger hoses 36mm or better yet 50mm.
That said, same as the others, I would go with one of the smaller collectors that uses a 4" hose.
At bare minimum using one of the trashcan-lid type separators with a 4" hose to the Planer and your CT on the other end. Those Dewalt 735s do have a fan to help with the chip/airflow

I have a DW-735 serviced by an 1100CFM collector with a 40 gallon Thein baffle can in between...so it's sort of like a CT-150 if Festool made one. When I'm in a serious project I can fill that can in a week, under normal circumstances it takes maybe 3-4 weeks. A shop vac, even a Festool shop vac is no match for a planer.

If you don't mind emptying the container frequently, .................... a CT VA 20 Separator with a larger hose might do it. But no guarantees.

I run a Metabo 260 combo planer thicknesser using a 200L barrel, Dust Commander DLX, a pair of D50 hoses (2 meters long each) and a CT26.
Works perfectly. No blockages, good filtration, pretty much everything goes into the barrel and doesn't leave it.
I wasn't 100% on it working in the first place, but I tried it and have since put about 10 barrel loads into recycling and the CT bag hasn't been changed yet.
I also have the CT-VA-20. It works, but it will drive you up the walls if you try using it on the lunchbox planer. I'd gladly recommend the barrel and cyclone combo, but not without the 50mm hoses. That's the key, IMHO. My planer is set up with 10" straight knives also, before someone asks.

Mine is a Ridgid, and I don't know if its blower is as strong, because since day 1, I've used the planer with a dust collector. I should try it out next time with using the blower alone, and compare. If it's as good as or close to using the d.c., it'll save me from the hassle of using an auto switch and making the mobile d.c close to the planer every time I thickness plane. I may even be able to set it up such that the chips go direct into the lawn waste bag placed inside the compost cart!

I happened upon it by chance, I misplaced the remote for the DC and turned on the planer before the DC. While looking for the remote I noticed the clear plastic bag on the Jet was fully expanded and had to feel the Jet for vibration to verify it was not on. So I ran some boards through and it was settled. One less machine tool making noise while the planer is on. [smile]
