Connecting 27mm Festool hose to DWP611 router

Have any of you found a good solution for connecting Festool hoses to the Dewalt trim routers?  I poked through some Amazon reviews, found one person that shoved it into the dust collection fitting on the router (it really doesn't fit well at all).  Another bought a dewalt hard plastic adapter, but I can't see this working well either (might cough up a few bucks and try it anyway).  I wish I had a Rockler store nearby so I could try their adapters.  I'm hoping someone else here has solved this problem and come up with something that has enough give to allow you to move the router around and enough hold to keep the hose attached.

I bought the dewalt clear adapters, and then cut the outside ring off. It fits, it could be a little more snug, but it certainly works. Let me know if you want them, and I could post pictures later.

No need for the pic.  I'll take a look at it tonight.  If it's loose I can just throw a couple wraps of tape on it.  The two sleeves probably gives it more rigidity, so I guess I'll need to be careful that I don't let the weight of the hose torque the fitting.  Thanks!

Err, sort of.
There was a few slightly tapered rubber tube sections that were removed from the electrical consumer units on some buildings I eas working on.
They fit over the end of my festol end fitting and into the clear plastic dust hood thing on my router.
They also fit in the back of mh jigsaw and into my Makita chopsaw.
I picked three of them out of the skip.

Hey RKA,

We did a video on the new DCW600B (cordless version of the DWP611), and DeWalt's dust collection adapters will work with both the 27mm and 36mm hoses.

There are two available; One is for the fixed base and one is for the plunge base.

There's links inside of the videos for the corresponding bases if you'd want to buy them through our site.

Thanks [member=54899]Matthew Lennon[/member] .  I'm trying to parse what you're saying, but I'm not sure I understand.  I do have both the fixed based and plunge dust collection fittings.  The hose will fit over the inner collar on them, but only goes ~1/2" over before hitting the outer collar (this is both the old and new style 27mm Festool hose end fittings).  The hose fitting is about 2mm too big to fit inside that outer collar.  You might be able to force it, but the torque would eventually break some weaker part of the dust collection fitting near the base of the router.  And the 1/2" of overlap on the inner collar isn't enough to keep it in place.

The 36mm hose does fit over the outer collar with some force, but that hose is a pain in the butt with this little trim router, so that won't work for me.

But maybe I misunderstood and you were implying that you need the Dewalt DWV9120 adapter in order to connect the two?  The video wasn't quite clear about this.

Okay, here is the definitive answer for connecting a 27mm hose to a Dewalt 611 trim router (corded or cordless makes no difference, they both use the same dust collection accessories).

Below we have the Dewalt DWV9120 and Bosch VAC003. Both options work, the Dewalt is around $15 the Bosch is around $5.  And in this case I think the cheaper Bosch option is the best.

Bosch VAC003 - this one is hard plastic, fairly stubby and fits all the way down into the dust collection fitting.  The inner collar in the dust collection fitting is tapered, so the fit is tight as you seat the Bosch adapter all the way in.  The Festool 27mm hose fits perfectly into the Bosch adapter.  It seems like it would take a bit of force to undo either connection.

Dewalt DWV9120 - this one is a two part adapter.  The rubber part fits into the dust collection fitting but it doesn’t bottom out like the Bosch does.  Luckily it’s rubber, so friction keeps it in place pretty well.  The junction between the two parts swivels, but if you’re using a Festool hose, it already swivels, so this feature is moot.  The second part of the adapter is plastic and the 27mm Festool hose fits into it perfectly.  While this adapter appears to work well, my guess is this one would break free easier than the Bosch.  This adapter is longer and I suspect that might apply enough torque to the friction fit between the dust collection fitting and rubber part of the adapter.  As you can see from the picture, it’s not seated very far into the fitting.

One more note comparing the rubber part of the Dewalt adapter to the Festool hose.  They both have the same outer diameter, however, the Dewalt has a larger inner diameter. When you plug the Festool hose directly into the dust collection fitting on the router, it stretches over the inner collar in the dust collection fitting enough that the outer diameter will no longer fit.  Maybe you could force it, but I suspect you would break the dust collection fitting in short order.

A few months back I got the 900W dewalt trimrouter as a set (router, fixed base, plungebase, edgeguides and the clear dustcollection things.)

Just wanted to add that for people with the old festool hoses, no adapters are necessary, the old 27 mm fits over the inside ring with no effort, and stays on; the 36 mm fits over the outside ring (using it this way a bit of dust collects in between the two rings, but it works fine.)

Unfortunately, I did not find that this was the case.  I should have clarified, my comments about the 27mm hose fitting compared to the Dewalt adapter were using the old 27mm Festool hose.  The newer 27mm hose fitting was worse I think.  Maybe in Europe Dewalt provides a different dust collection accessory that will easily fit metric hoses?  The part number is the same though, so this is unlikely.  In any event, if you can't get your 27mm hose to fit directly, you have some other options.
