I am looking to buy a contractor saw in the next few months.  The SawStop looks pretty great but its about $2,000 in Anchorage vs. $500 for a Rigid or used Delta.

I have the SS contractor saw and can whole heartedly recommend it - if you're not looking for a portable saw.  With the cast iron extension wings and 36" fence that I added, the weight is around 360 lbs, but I find the SS contractor is saw is more comparable to a cabinet saw than a typical contractor saw.

Thanks for your input Fred.  I am looking for a Saw that we can set up for a couple of months at a time and can cut with the precision of a cabinet saw.  Sounds like the Saw Stop would fit the bill.

In that case I believe you will be very happy with the SS contractor saw.

I've got the Wixey digital fence readout mounted on my saw and I'll put the accuracy of my saw up against my Dad's Unisaw with his digital readout any day.  And as plus, my SS contractor saw does a far better job of dust control than my Dad's Unisaw.

If you're looking at max dust control, be sure to get the optional blade guard with the dust port.  It really improves the dust collection for the saw.
