Hi I have a CTL26 with auto function (starts when power tools is started) but I want to control the CTL via the power cord (and the CTL in manual mode).

Will that damage the CTL?

I use my CTL 26 that way also for 8 years now.
A wireless transmitter on the hose and the receiver between the power cord and the wall outlet.
And the CTL is always on manual.
Only downside is that the vac has to be turned on with the transmitter before switching the machine to on.
These switchable wall sockets are available all over the world these days.

I have looked into these but never found a set rated over 1000w, how did you solve that?

You're right that these are normally used for switching lamps, etc. and not machines.
But I use one which is rated 3.500W.
And is just designed for not blowing the fuses in Holland (3.680W).
It's one from a Dutch brand KlikAan|KlikUit: ACC-3500. The name says it all.
