Cookie Jar

Well, sort of a cookie jar... I recently purchased some Rockler bench cookies with the dog holders. It's a very nice accessory to have. I couldn't figure out what to do with them when I wasn't using them though. So I came up with this. I started with a piece of PVC pipe. I cut the end to square it off and used the scrap to trace a circle onto a piece of MDF. I then stacked the bench cookies on the MDF and stood them next to the PVC to mark the desired length of PVC. I then cut the pipe to its final length. Next, I cut out the circle in the MDF. I sanded the edge smooth and brought it to its final size so it would fit snug inside one end of the pipe. After test fitting, I removed the circle of MDF and marked its location on the pipe. I also placed a cookie on the circle to mark a second location. Next, I found the center of those 2 marks.  I then took the pipe to my drill press and using a hole saw, drilled a hole through both sides of the pipe. After that, I took the pipe to my bandsaw where I "connected the dots" removing the material between  the two holes. Next, I replaced the MDF plug and screwed it in place. I also sanded and filed the cut edges smooth. I did a quick test fit of the cookies. And then a little paint.  I'm adding a little Festool sticker to it to make it fit in a little better with the rest of my tools.  :) I'll post a pic of it when I'm done. Nothing ground breaking here. I just thought it was fun and useful little afternoon project. [attachimg=#]
