I found a plan in a woodworking magazine for two coping sleds one for ends and one for the long edge. I now have lost the magazine. Can anyone tell me the magazine issue from which this plan came. This is the one I built and I started on the longer sled. I wanted to built the longer sled and ordered a router bit. Somewhere along the line the magazine slipped away. I now know, I must copy the plan and put it in a secure place.

Thanks so much. I tried that and got no reply. I don't want to be a pest so I did not try again.

Garry - I thought the same thing and logged into FWW.com and could not find any articles or plans.

Nothing on woodsmithlibrary.com either.

Woodmagazine.com has a coping sled plan but I can't seem to get it to download.

[member=167]neilc[/member] I did the same and looked through the back index too but couldn't find anything. I think the trick will be the keywords used.

[member=49013]clark_fork[/member] Can you remember whether it was a single article with two jigs? Any idea what else might have been in the issue? How old was the magazine likely to be? Could it have been called something different to a coping sled?

I'm still pretty convinced it's Fine Woodworking due to the typeface and those infamous arrows...  [wink]

Hi

found it here : Fine Woodworking N157 2002-August

Thanks to Garry for the help

Jacques

My heartfelt thanks. Jacques  sent along a copy of the edition and now I can finish the job. The huge clue was that it was a FW drawing.

I somehow knew that I would find the answer here. Just Remarkable to receive a copy from Belgium (Thanks so much Jacques.)

Well done [member=24486]JMe[/member], even with "End-Grain Sled" and "Long-Grain Sled" (or indeed even the article title!) it's still not coming up in the Fine Woodworking Index search, so fantastic you were able to find it.

Garry:

I totally agree, it was a fine piece of research and solid evidence of the incredible usefulness and practicality of this FOG site. I do want to thank you for pointing out the source was FW. My issues go back to the 90's and I would have gone through the issues until I found the plan but Jacques provided an able shortcut.

Now I have taken a fresh look at the plan, I realize that the solution lies in using a T-Track rather than the plan as presented. The year 2002 seems light years away and techniques have changed over time. When I re-discovered the plan, I had a "duh: moment that I could have just thought out the process and come up with the T-Track solution without fretting about the original plan.

I am about to make a bunch of book cases. I bought a LR32 from FOG Classified and now I have a plan to safely do the trim and I am happy as a clam with FOG.

Thanks again to both Jacques and Garry.
