Thinking of buying an MFT/3 before a new cabinet project. But looking at it's repeatable crosscut capacity, it looks like it's only 27 inches. I have read that you can turn the fence 90 degrees and increase this. Is this true? Anyone done this and had good results? This seems like a shortcoming in the MFT when used with a saw that is so helpful for sheet goods. I appreciate any input, especially from people who have done this

I never tried moving the fence and rail on the MFT/3.
Seems like a lot of time. I can easily cross cut 609mm wide piece of ply. Which is plenty for the depth of a base cabinet.
I use the MFT/3 and Parallel guides for anything wider then 609mm all the time. I find that both work wonders for
cutting sheets of plywood.
Yes you can put the rail on either side of the MFT/3. But it may be old after a while if you're switching the rail around alot.
A couple options would be to buy 2 MFT/3's. Or get a MFT/3 and P-guides.
To me the MFT table is more then just a table for cutting. It can be used in so many different applications then just cross
cuts. If you where to add it to your Festool line of goodies, I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed.

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, I wasn't worried about the length of the crosscut, but how much board could be on the table from left to right. I want to make repeated cuts so that the cabinet height is around 32-36 inches. If I could just slide the lard down after each cut, it would make for quick work.
