A couple of things.  I wonder if the Sawstop tech is going to be introduced into this saw and is it ever going to make it over to the US?  I use a CMS GE system for my router table but having the CS come over here would be really cool.  I didn't know you could use it like the Mafell Erika and pull the blade through which would be great for cutting very thin pieces.  I like the fact that you can fold the extension tables down when not in use, just like the CMS.  It's not cheap but either is a SS professional.  I'm hoping to see it one of these days on our shores but not holding my breath.

I doubt it in the short term. A revised CS 70 (and CS 50) is soon to hit the streets and it doesn't include the SawStop technology so it's highly unlikely for at least the next few years.

Festool are introducing a table saw called the TKS 80 which *will* include SawStop and it is due to be available in the US too. Expect to see it sometime in 2019.

The 70 would be great as it has a more powerful motor and would allow me to cut 8/4 or 52mm material.  I'll give away my Rigid jobsite saw when it comes over.  I'd love a Felder slider but have no room for it.

Hello Howard,

here in Europe we have basically 3 jobsite pull saw options:
  • Mafell Erika - the best but extremely expensive. 3 Versions: 60E, 70 EC and 85 EC
  • Festool Precisio CS - mid range. 2 Versions: 50 and 70
  • Metabo UK - cheapest option, but still not cheap. Also 2 Versions: UK 290 and UK 333

Maybe the Metabo is available in the US. It has by far the most reasonable street price without sacrificing much of the Precisio's quality.

The Erika is the nicest option, but the naked 85 EC saw is more expensive than the entire Precisio CS 70 EB set. Even used ones are super expensive. Add all the options on top and you can buy a Precisio CS 50 and CS 70 for the price of one Erika.

I doubt the saw stop feature is compatible with the pull saw systems. IMHO it is not really necessary as the pull feature of the saw makes those pesky little cuts a whole lot safer to begin with. I would definitely not pay extra to have that Saw Stop feature in a pull saw.

I have owned both the CS70 and the CS50 in full sets and both have served me very well. I now have a Erika 60E which is a great saw but less versatile than the CS saws to be honest. It is also not compatible with the larger Erikas - the accessory profile is different. As a system with all things considered the Precisio CS saws are great. Out of the two I prefer the CS70EB though.

The Mafell Erika 85EC is the one I would love to have but the price is simply too much to bear. Even at a discounted price I could not justify it. And still it is a far cry from the digital Felder we have at the workshop when working sheet goods.
