I would like to know whether or not a miter sled is necessary for generating perfect miters when using the CS50 or CS70.

Disclaimer: I don't own a Precisio
Based on what I saw our kitchen installer using a CS50 as long as you are within the width of the blade pull mechanism you can do good miters with just the stationary angle guide, but if your work piece is larger than the Precisio blade travel you probably will need the slider.

I get perfect miters on my CS70 without a sled.
But you have to fine tune the saw, there are many adjustable screws on all parts to line them out perfectly.
