Howdy!
I was the lucky recipient of a pretty nice stack of tools but the CT26A will not turn on. It tries to, goes whoop whoop but never spins up. I purchased a new motor but no luck, same issue. I’m wondering if it could be this little guy but I can’t figure out what it is. Any advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

As it's in series with the switch, just try shorting the terminals and see if it then powers up. Looks like a sensor of some sort, so shorting it will be fine to test.

Thank you for replying!
I did… I pulled it and connected the wires directly, same whoop whoop but no start. I’d love to be able to figure it out, wife’s watching my shop budget closely… Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Sounds like it's the control board then, look for any obvious signs of carbonisation, or blackening indicating a component has fried.

In particular look around for blown capacitors, especially the larger "can" shaped electrolytics, if the top is bulging it's failed.

Also have a look under the board to see if there's any dry solder joints or indications of stress.

Thank you so much! Seriously, I’ve been trying to figure this out for months. Really appreciate your time and knowledge. Have a kick ass weekend!

Happy to help, I know the frustration very well of a tool not working for some mysterious reason.

Another couple of things worth mentioning, I don't think the CT22's were susceptible, but the Midi's had a fault with the cable clamp design that would cause the copper strands to break inside the insulation, causing it to cut in/out depending how the cable was stressed or manipulated in use. If you have a cord handy you could test that by terminating it to the input connectors to rule that out. Just make sure you match the cable colours correctly

Also, have you checked the brushes are okay and not worn or chipped?
