Meezo,

I'll let some of the members who already upgraded from the previous models to the new give you their opinions. In fact, there are already some comments about this in some other threads so it may be worth a search.

I did want to give you a link to our website where it shows the differences between the models.

Those who have upgraded have commented that they find the new self-cleaning bags to be of great benefit. I'm sure you'll get some other feedback though. Most notably, the side-by-side review of the 33 and 36 by Chris Rosenberger.

Not really worth it just for the sake of upgrading to get any new features.  You'll lose the storage door, etc. that you have now.  The differences have already been mentioned over and over but most noticeably to me is that it's quieter.  Noise level testing is not a linear thing so when you see the specs you don't think much about it but when you hear it, it's a lot.  When I upgrade I weigh in things like getting a new 3-year warranty, the old models have good resale, etc.  So you don't really have to look at is as if you're shelling out $550-$600, it's minus what you can sell your existing model for and how much the warranty, etc. is worth to you.  I had 2 33's and sold one and bought a CT36.  I'll be swapping out the other vac soon too.  I like the new ones but it doesn't do anything for work quality and/or speed of work.  :)

Yes, it's more quiet, no doubt about that.

But the handle takes the center of the hosegarage, so you can't park any TS or OF or other big tools in there. Also, the 26 and 36 don't have the exhaust port, something very useful when in need of a large low-pressure airflow.

But the possibility to order a two-socket model or add a 2nd power socket later is nice. Oh wait, not in the US..

Sure, rub it in!

We use several CT22 and CT33 in our shop. Of course we also have a modern shop Dust Collection system, which is ideal for the large fixed-position machines.

One CT22 is dedicated to one of my Kapex. Our specialist in face frames has his own Kapex used with his CT33. My other CT22s roll to whatever work table where they are needed. Since the work tables also are moved around, it would not be practical to provide them DC ports. One of my CT22 has a boom arm.

When the CT26 and CT33 were available here in the USA, I bought 2 slightly used CT22 and one used CT33. Of course I had evaluated CT26 and CT33 at my dealer's store. Two weeks ago we received our first CT36. This will be saved for on-site jobs. It does seem to be quieter, although the CT33 is itself very quiet. The CT36 and CT26 have the self-cleaning bags. We do not generate as much dust on-site as do our friends into drywall and general contracting. When on-site we are installing cabinets, so we create a higher percentage of chips than we do in our shop.

So far our experience is that the self-cleaning removes dust clinging to the inside of the bag. This really improves the collection of chips. In the shop we do have cyclones on the CT22 used with routers which collect the chips and some dust before they get to the bags. Personally I would rather changes bags on-site than deal with setting up a cyclone.

At first I was concerned that the CT26 and CT36 do not have an exhaust port. I realize I have not used that feature on a CT22 in the last 3 years. By now I am convinced the exhaust port is not always necessary. Clients are impressed with the effectiveness of the CT36.
