I've had my CT 36 for maybe a couple of years.  It's only been used to vacuum sawdust and it hasn't been used much at all.  Yesterday it stopped working.  The motor fires up for maybe a half second and that's it.  I thought that maybe the bag was overfull (it wasn't) and/or that the filter was dirty (it wasn't).  I had hoped that this was a top quality tool but maybe I'm wrong.  Based on what I'm reading from you folks, it looks like its going to have to be sent I for repairs.  Knowing the way my luck is running, I doubt that it's still on warranty!

Hi,

   Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Wish it was under better circumstances.  The warranty is three years so you might still be good in that respect.  Depending what the problem is it could be a simple part replacement.  I suggest you call Festool M - F , 9 - 5.   They should be able to help you out.

Is your vac the CT36 AC (auto clean, designed for use with Planex) or the CT 36?

A Seth said, give Festool a call.  If it is about the age you said it should be under warranty and the folks at Festool have been trained to help you troubleshoot to some degree your tools in an effort to keep you from having to ship them.

I'll try the "eye cleaning" thing and let you guys know.  Thanks for all your help.

no luck on cleaning the "eyes".  I've sent Festool a query so let's see if they respond.  The real irritating thing is that I've been using the Onida cyclone add on (which really works great) and as a result I'm still on the first bag that's inside the machine.  It's only half full.

Wouldn't it be great if they incorporated a compact cyclone in their next series of vacuums?  Except that would probably mean less bag sales for Festool ;-) Perhaps it is already in the making...
