CT and table saw

I just got a unisaw and would love some dust collection.  I am also really looking for and excuse to get a CT for my 1010.  would  CT with a cyclone work ok for that?  I am aware that this is not a really good solution but my space in tiny and then i could use the CT for other tools too.

with a 50mm hose it will work ok but not ideally. a larger high volume dc unit would be better

You probably need 600CFM and 4" inlet.  CT will not get you there.

I have a benchtop TS with a dust shroud underneath that connects directly to my CT's hose.  With that kind of set up, the CT can get the dust from under the table, but without one of these--

you're gonna have plenty of airborne dust.  I don't think the CT gulps enough CFM to handle collection above and below the table (although I've read that 400 cfm is adequate for a TS).

John

I've used my CT with my bench top table saw. To adapt the 27mm hose, I plug it into  a 3/4” nap roller sleeve, then plug the roller sleeve into the dust port.

What can I say, I see solutions everywhere.

tjbnwi = macgyver

Will have to try that. My dewalt blows dust all over the yard. Good tip.

the traditional 400CFM/4" inlet rule of thumb for a TS tends to be a bit dated.  He did say unisaw -- that implies a 3HP cabinet saw.  most of the new cabinet saws split the CFM between under the table and over-arm DC.  The last one I looked at was 650CFM.  My 5HP saw is 550, and goes to 700CFM if you use the boom DC.  While I love the CT (I've got 5 of the things), it's not the tool for the job.  Now for a contractors or portable TS, then you may be in the right ballpark.

Yeah it is a 3hp cabinet saw. thanks for the numbers it will give me something to go off.  I will have to try a CT on my portable makita.

I totally agree you need a high volume strong dust collector system for a Unisaw (or any other large table saw). The dust collector should be able to draw powerfully through a 4" hose as a minimum. Anything less is inadequate.

I traded in my 20 year old Unisaw for an Industrial Sawstop. Have a dual 2HP cyclone dust collector system for my shop. Air comes out scrubbed to HEPA level.

Dood you are McGyver….

Im considering selling my big TS and getting bench top. Since Ive been buing festools I dont use the TS as much as I used to and then only for real quick cuts and thin pieces.

So Im going to bookmark this thread for future ref.

Great Idea

Spur of the moment. I grabbed what I had (paint roller wise that is).

Wishing you a great Christmas also.
